In the morning, take a flight to Ulgii, the capital of Bayan-Ulgii Province in Western Mongolia. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your local driver and guide. Begin your cultural journey by visiting a Kazakh eagle-hunting family, where you’ll gain fascinating insights into the life of eagle hunters and enjoy close interaction with both the hunters and their magnificent birds. In the afternoon, explore the Ulgii Museum to learn more about the region’s rich history and traditions, followed by a visit to the local market, where you can experience the daily life of the Kazakh people.

On the 1st Day of the Sagsai Golden Eagle Festival, immerse yourself in authentic Kazakh culture by visiting eagle hunters’ families, learning about their nomadic lifestyle, and tasting traditional cuisine. Take part in hands-on experiences like ger (yurt) assembling and enjoy warm conversations with renowned hunters as they share epic stories. This two-day festival is a paradise for photographers and filmmakers of all levels, offering countless opportunities to capture striking and unique moments. On the second day, witness the breathtaking spectacle of a golden eagle soaring high before diving toward its prey as the Berkutchi (eagle hunter) calls from horseback. The powerful scene of the eagle landing on the hunter’s arm at full speed showcases the deep bond and mutual trust between them—built through years of dedicated training. You’ll also learn about the five traditional Kazakh methods of eagle hunting and enjoy the thrilling competitions that highlight this centuries-old tradition.
