Monastiraki

Lively Monastiraki is known for iconic landmarks including the ruins of Hadrian’s Library, the Ancient Agora and the rebuilt Stoa of Attalos, with a museum exhibiting Athenian artifacts. Monastiraki Flea Market is a jumble of shops selling artisanal soaps, handmade sandals and souvenir T-shirts. The surrounding streets are crammed with traditional tavernas and restaurants, many with Acropolis views.

    Silvia as our host for the food tour was AMAZING!! She was so knowledgeable and picked the right kind of foods for us to try. We were lucky to be able to do the food tour with just our group of 6 people. We had a lot of variety and history around the different foods. Love loved all the traditional foods!!

    Three of us had a private tour with Anna. She was wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly and responsive to our needs and preferences. There is a great deal of food on this tour. Not only don't eat beforehand, don't eat the day before, either. If you have food preferences, not just allergies, let your guide know. They can tailor your food tour. We could not have asked for a better time. Enjoy!

    Fantastic experience with our guide Dora! Great selection of food experiences and Greek food knowledge with a smile. I would recommend you going on this food walking tour at the beginning of your Greek trip. And also remember not to eat before because the food is plentiful within your walking tour.

She somehow manages to be a historian, comedian, and foodie all rolled into one, and does it with effortless charm. The tour itself was a delicious journey through Athens—each stop offering a new surprise, from savory bites that locals swear by to sweet indulgences you didn’t know you needed in your life. The small group size made everything feel personal, like being out with friends rather than on a tour. Tonia’s energy is infectious—attentive without hovering, funny without trying too hard, and crystal-clear in her explanations. Finding the meeting spot was a breeze, but the real challenge is walking away without unbuttoning your pants. A must-do experience for anyone who thinks eating is just as important as sightseeing (and maybe even more so).
