We’ll enjoy a nice hot cup of Indian tea after meeting at Regal Cinema, an iconic Art Deco theater in Colaba. Our next stop is Sassoon Docks—one of the oldest docks, built in 1875, and now one of the largest fish markets. Then, we’ll observe traditional laundry washing before heading to my home of 23 years in Ganesh murti Nagar slums, the largest slum in South Mumbai.
Here, you'll meet wonderful and interesting people—my family and friends. This is also where Gregory Roberts, the author of the worldwide bestseller Shantaram, lived for a long time.
I look forward to showing you an authentic slice of Mumbai life!

5.00Did a tour with GoofyTours in Mumbai with my family and it was honestly really amazing. The guide was super nice and one of the coolest parts was that he actually lives in the slums, so hearing about his own life was really interesting. You can tell he’s a really good person and he even helps run a school there. Walking through the slums was really interesting and eye opening. We did other stuff too but I’d honestly want to go back just to see more of the slums. Definitely something I’ll remember, would 100% recommend.

5.00On our first full day in Mumbai, our hotel arranged a tour for us with Gufi. He met with us at our hotel in the early morning, and we toured a fish market, a flower market, and a vegetable market. The colors were amazing, multiple opportunities for great photos. After a coffee, we toured a laundry, and the slum where Gufi lives. He invited us into his home for tea and to meet his family. We had many tour guides during our two week trip in India, but this was by far our favorite experience. Incidentally, for those who are interested, his language skills are excellent. Highly recommend.

5.00Gufi was our guide for two days. He showed us several viewpoints around Mumbai and shared a lot of information along with some fun facts. Gufi is very friendly and open, which made us feel comfortable right away. We had a great time.

5.00Gufran is a super friendly and happy guy. Easy to get along with and lots of fun!! He’s informative and shows you exactly what you want to see - the real Mumbai. I had a tremendous experience so much so that I recommended him to my sister and she took her family on a similar tour when they were visiting Mumbai. Strongly recommended.

5.00If you visit Mumbai, please, do yourself a favor and meet Gufram. I have traveled a lot, but I have never met a guide like him — kind, humble, unbelievably knowledgeable, and so deeply connected to the real life of this city. From the moment you meet him, you feel safe, welcomed, and understood. He knows everything: history, culture, hidden corners, local habits — and he gives you advice with so much patience and honesty. He is funny, full of stories, speaks many languages, and is even learning Polish! But the experience that touched me the most was the real slum tour — something I will remember for the rest of my life. This is not a tourist show. This is real Mumbai. Real people. Real stories. Gufram is the founder of the SlumCare Foundation, and every tour supports his community. He shares his own journey too — arriving in Mumbai at 15 with nothing but dreams to support his family, and working hard ever since. Listening to him while walking through the narrow lanes… it is impossible not to feel it deeply. He also took me to the incredible outdoor laundry where most of Mumbai’s hotels wash their linens — an entire world of hard work and resilience. Seeing all of this with Gufram’s explanations made everything so raw, so human, so emotional. This tour left me speechless. Truly. It changed the way I see Mumbai, India, and even my own life. It made me grateful, humble, and open in a new way. If you come to Mumbai, do not leave without doing this tour. Be open, be brave, and let Gufram show you the Mumbai that travelers rarely see. 5.00Gufran is an amazing person and community leader seeking to remove Mumbai residents from the vicious cycle of systemic poverty. He is kind, caring, and knowledgeable. I told him I was hungry at the start of our tour, so he took me to a good restaurant. He showed me around a local fish market, the 2nd largest laundry (dhobi ghat) in Mumbai, and his neighboring slum. I got to meet his family, fellow residents, and even the students of the school he's founded, Slum Care. Not only did I get to see some "Real Mumbai," but I felt inspired by this tour.

5.00We had an amazing experience on the Shantaram Slum Tour with our guide Gufran. He was not only knowledgeable but also very kind and professional. Since Gufran actually lives in the slums, he knows every street and corner – it really felt like we were walking with someone who understands this place deeply. What impressed us most is that he also runs the Slamfoundation, which helps local children get access to education. During the tour, we saw how respected and loved he is by the people there – especially the kids! Gufran speaks excellent English, so communication was easy, and he explained everything clearly and with a lot of heart. We also learned that he offers other tours, like f.ex. the Dharavi Slum Tour and the Bollywood Tour. We highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to see the real Mumbai and understand life in the slums beyond the stereotypes. Thank you, Gufran – we’ll never forget it!
