The belfry is the most important building on the Grote Markt. This square is surrounded by guild houses with an ancient history.

Basilica of the Holy Blood

The Basilica of the Holy Blood has an impressive facade with gold-colored statues. You reach the upper chapel in neo-Gothic style via a special staircase. There is also an elevator. You don't want to miss this! The lower chapel is completely different. It surprises with the thick walls, small windows and the unique atmosphere. The centuries-old town hall is located on the same square. This building with the slender towers is an absolute eye-catcher. Here the guide will tell you about the statues and coats of arms.

The tour is well paced and very informative. Gives a very good historical overview of Bruges. Fabian, our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about her home city. She was respectful of all guests in the group, made everyone feel welcome, and answered extra questions with care and understanding.

Our guide talked about the history as well as good places to get Belgian beer. Boat ride after the first part of the walking tour. I liked it was only 30 minute boat ride as it was hot that day. Would recommend.
