Basilica of the Holy Blood

The Basilica of the Holy Blood has an impressive facade with gold-colored statues. You reach the upper chapel in neo-Gothic style via a special staircase. There is also an elevator. You don't want to miss this! The lower chapel is completely different. It surprises with the thick walls, small windows and the unique atmosphere. The centuries-old town hall is located on the same square. This building with the slender towers is an absolute eye-catcher. Here the guide will tell you about the statues and coats of arms.

The tour meeting point was outside the tourist office. I went inside to confirm with tourist agent who had no idea but was rude is pointing out that there is no canal inside the office. Frank the walking tour guide was exceptional once it got going. He showed us beautiful landmarks, squares, and a historic church and then walked us to the dock to board the boat. This is when everything went downhill. The boat was overfilled and the captain was not friendly. He spoke on the speakers and rattled off sites during the boat tour with very little enthusiasm or humor as if he was reading a script. Might as well just have a pre recorded announcements. At one point in the boat ride, this captain actually rammed into the boat ahead because he seemed annoyed that it was going too slow. It jolted everyone on our boat and onto the other boat. Our captain didn’t even apologize and just kept going as if nothing happened. The other boat captain however looked visibly annoyed. Near the end of the tour our captain had the audacity to say “don’t forget to tip your captain” yes sure here’s your tip: be nicer!

Lovely walk around Bruges and finished at the Brewery where we chose to have lunch. Lots if history, good tips on where to get waffles and chocolate.

Booking was for a 2.5 hour private walking tour incorporating 1/2 hour boat cruise Ann, our guide, was everything we could have hope for our group of 3 Experienced, knowledgeable and a lovely gentle well spoken lady The tour was an inexpensive experience I would highly recommend for first time visitors to Bruges Looking forward to our Chocolate tour with Ann tomorrow Thank you Ann

Really good history information and we definitely saw the best parts of Bruges on this trip. It was very chilly the morning we took the tour, but we kept moving and stopped for a taste of chocolate and a hot drink along the way, adding to the enjoyment. Bruges is a beautiful city to visit and we will have to return in the spring or summer to get a different feel.

Fabienne was our guide and was brilliant. She was really informative about all the areas we visited. It was our first time to Bruges and she made the tour really interesting and pointed out all the historical places we should also visit on our own. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would recommend anyone visiting for the first time to book in.
