Consider spending a day climbing the world’s longest wooden staircase. With its 4444 steps, Flørli is known to be one of the scariest stairs in the world. The climb is long and strenuous, but provides great lookout points where you can stop to catch your breath while enjoying the vista over the Lysefjord down below. This is a two-part hike that does not take you through the same scenery more than once. The descent follows the hundred-year old marked trail that was once used by the “Rallarer”. Rallarer were often underprivileged men that were employed in the 1800s Norway to help build infrastructure. They are remembered to have carried up to 80 kg loads on their backs, and are the ones that built the stairs along with the Flørli Hydroelectric Power Station at their base. The dam at Ternevatnet, which the return trail passes, also stands as a reminder of their mastery.

We did the Florli 4444 steps today. The tour was very well organized, and our guide, Toa, was absolutely exceptional!!! He is extremely nice, pleasant, patient, professional, helping us a lot over difficult rocks, and a fun guy to travel with!!! Sooo grateful to have him as our guide!! Thank you for an unbelievable hiking trip!!!

What a great trip. It was so well organised from start to end and our lovely guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Pick up at the door, coffee on the ferry, encouragement on the climb, tea and cake at the end and drop off back to the door. What more could you ask for. Avoid the crowds and experience one of Norway's hidden gems.

I really had a great time doing this tour. I am not in my best shape of my life, not even young anymore and it was quite a challenge but I did it. In big part thank to our amazing tour guide Josefine. The weather was quite bad at the end of the hike but still I loved it. Thanks again for the experience.

We had a really fantastic, unforgettable time with Michael. I would not want to do this without a guide. Especially the going down. Do not under-estimate the going back down though, it's a trek in itself, but loved it ;-)

What an amazing experience! The hike was beautiful and challenging and our guide Geir made the whole experience incredible telling us a bit more about Norway and his hiking knowledge. Would recommend it 100% We were really suprised with Florli, what an amazing place in the middle of nowhere! Communication with Geir before the experience was great and the day went smoothly, everything was very well planned.
