Porta San Francesco
Porta San Francesco or Porta del Paese is an ancient guard post in Città di San Marino built in 1361, in ancient times it represented the main access to the city.
Cava dei Balestrieri
The Cava dei Balestrieri is a historic landmark of the city a few steps from the cable car stop. Its initial use (in the last twenty years of the nineteenth century) was precisely as a quarry for the recovery of materials and for the extraction of the stone necessary for the restoration of the nearby Palazzo Pubblico. Later, according to the project proposal of architect Gino Zani in 1935, it would be used as a place on which to erect a new Palazzo degli Uffici. With the Second World War and the bombings of 1944 this project was definitively abandoned and only the high base that supports the road remained and that today is part of the Monument to the Fallen.
