Al-Balad

Al-Balad was founded in the 7th century and historically served as the centre of Jeddah. Al-Balad is mainly divided into number of different district . In 2009, Al-Balad was nominated by Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities to be added to UNESCO's World Heritage list, and it was accepted in 2014.

A wonderful evening in the house of a Saudi family. They opened their home and their hearts. They all speak fluent English. They answered all of my daughters questions about their culture. We learned to cook and eat Saudi dinner and coffee.

We had a wonderful experience with Ferial! She was extremely informative and really enjoyed touring our group. From the historic houses, different unique shops, the Al Shafee Mosque, and Nassif House Museum. There was never any pressure to buy anything. Thanks, Ferial, for great tour!

A guide is essential to truly understand the essence of Al Balad in Jeddah. Ferial was an excellent guide! She is knowledgeable, kind and focused on providing a wonderful experience for guests. We came away with a greatunderstanding of the “Old Town” area. Snacks, a cold drink and coffee were included and these were very enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour with Ferial!

We had a very informative tour in the old center. We were introduced in the culture of Saudi. We spoke a lot about how things used to be and how things have started to change over the latest years. We had so much to ask about this culture and all of our questions were answered. We even tried some delicious local snacks. Out tour guide was extremely kind and passionate to show us everything. We definitely recommend this tour !

Ferial loves the old city and it shows. She does a great job of showing hidden gems and places you are unlikely to stumble on without her expert guidance. We all really enjoyed the tour. There are too few guides like Ferial in Jeddah.
