Nagoya Castle
Nagoya Castle: Where History Meets Legendary Bling Welcome to Nagoya Castle, one of Japan’s most iconic and legendary strongholds, proudly standing tall in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, right in the heart of Honshu! Cool Castle Facts: Born in 1612 – Built by the legendary Tokugawa Ieyasu, the powerhouse behind the Tokugawa shogunate. Talk about a strong start! Golden Guardians – Spot the dazzling golden shachihoko on the rooftops! These mythical tiger-headed fish are said to protect the castle from fire—and they look awesome doing it. Style Goals – Traditional Japanese vibes with towering stone walls, bright white plaster, and an epic central keep (called a donjon). It's like stepping into a samurai movie set. Sky-high Splendor – The main tower stretches up to 48 meters (157 feet)—basically the height of a 15-story building!
Tokugawa Garden
t’s a beautiful Japanese landscape garden built on the grounds of the Owari Tokugawa family’s former residence. Highlights: Central pond and waterfall: A classic kaiyū-style (strolling) garden with a large pond representing the sea, with artificial hills symbolizing mountains. Seasonal flowers: Peonies in spring, irises in early summer, autumn foliage, and snowy scenery in winter.

Serge Roso served as our Nagoya Japan tour guide 9/15/25. Recommend him highly to take personal care of you for all sightseeing and Nagoya sights and sounds you desire. He has unique historical insights into Japan and will wow you with his personal experiences as a tour director of the last 30 years. Serge also took us to local markets, shops and restaurants off the beaten path in Nagoya, not included in usual cruise ship excursions. Serge does not rush and tailored our excursion experience to many of our personal requests. Please book his services as you will not be disappointed. We even invited him to visit us back home if our paths were to cross again. We give him our highest award for exceptional personal service and friendly character. Plus, he provided ice water, local snacks and took and edited pictures of our group. He made the day fun and enjoyable.

If you are looking for a tour of Nagoya, we suggest you book "Guided Tour of Nagoya by Car" with Serge as your guide. We expected Nagoya to be a boring city - boy, were we wrong! Serge brought the city to life. We opted out of a visit to the Toyota Automobile Museum, since it was a beautiful sunny day. We asked Serge to show us his city and he did just that! With engaging commentary, we visited Nagoya Castle, Atsuta-jingo Shrine, and Osu Kannon Temple. We were mesmerized by the Great Buddha of Nagoya (think Jolly Green Giant!) at the Toganji Temple; stepped into a bamboo grove; and visited a Japanese Tea house for matcha and sweets. We took a stroll around Tokugawa Garden and spent time feeding the koi fish and walking up to the waterfall - a relaxing break in the day. What day would be complete without souvenir shopping, and the Osu Kannon Shopping District was a great stop to do that. Serge was engaging, funny and informative. He made us feel like old family friends, not strangers. He gave us a great tour of Nagoya. We highly recommend. Arigato Serge.

Serge provided my wife, 16 year old daughter and myself the best day. We had limited time because of only being in port on a cruise for the day. Serge provided awesome information and conversation and stories that we have laughed and talked about since. He is definitely not a guide that leaves awkward moments of silence. Serge was very good at including our daughter in everything. We will always remember the day. He took us to the nagoya castle, a traditional tea house with private rooms and views of a Japanese garden, tokugawa park a garden with amazing koi and unforgettable scenery for photos. And to toganji temple with great Buddha supported by elephants and Nittaiji Temple. We would definitely love to be in nagoya again and spend time with serge again.

Our tour guide Serge was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. He took us to a lunch spot for pork tonkatsu which was one of the best we ever had. I would highly recommend Serge as a tour guide for Nagoya. Robert & family
