Nagoya Castle
Nagoya Castle: Where History Meets Legendary Bling Welcome to Nagoya Castle, one of Japan’s most iconic and legendary strongholds, proudly standing tall in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, right in the heart of Honshu! Cool Castle Facts: Born in 1612 – Built by the legendary Tokugawa Ieyasu, the powerhouse behind the Tokugawa shogunate. Talk about a strong start! Golden Guardians – Spot the dazzling golden shachihoko on the rooftops! These mythical tiger-headed fish are said to protect the castle from fire—and they look awesome doing it. Style Goals – Traditional Japanese vibes with towering stone walls, bright white plaster, and an epic central keep (called a donjon). It's like stepping into a samurai movie set. Sky-high Splendor – The main tower stretches up to 48 meters (157 feet)—basically the height of a 15-story building!
Tokugawa Garden
t’s a beautiful Japanese landscape garden built on the grounds of the Owari Tokugawa family’s former residence. Highlights: Central pond and waterfall: A classic kaiyū-style (strolling) garden with a large pond representing the sea, with artificial hills symbolizing mountains. Seasonal flowers: Peonies in spring, irises in early summer, autumn foliage, and snowy scenery in winter.

Sergie picked us up right on time, smiles and laughs all day. His casual, knowledge of the city was very informative and interesting. Nothing was a bother and he quickly picked our likes and dislikes making sure we had a special day. His family values dropped neatly into ours which gave us insights beyond the tourism thing. Highly recommend Sergie. Craig and Jenny New Zealand

Serge has a a vest knowledge of Japan with a unique point of view of a westerner who has been in Japan for over 30 years. Serge stepped up and made the trip mobility friendly as adjusted the plan to accommodate my wife who is handicapped.

Mum and I had a wonderful day with Serge. We had an interest in ceramics and their creators, and thanks to Serge’s deep research and connections, a beautifully curated 6-7 hours was curated. We went deep into Seto countryside, met with potters in their studios, stepped into heritage kilns and got a real sense of the craftsmen. Serge also arranged for a colleague to meet us at the stunning museum at Ceramic Park Mino. There was professionalism mixed with (a lot of) laughter and flexibility all the way. Thank you Serge!

Wow, what a wonderful day in Nagoya! Serge is a warm and engaging person who really enjoys showing you around his town. From the moment we got into his van it felt like we had known him for years. Thanks to touring with Serge we feel like we really got to know Nagoya - it’s not overwhelmed with tourists and we really felt like we spent time in a real Japanese town. If you find yourself in Nagoya, do not hesitate to hire Serge.

Don't miss an opportunity to book a tour with Serge! From our initial communications with him, we could tell that he had a great personality and this tour was going to be fun. As expected, from the time we hopped in his car, we were talking and laughing the entire day. He was very knowledgeable of all things Nagoya, and was willing to take us to see whatever we wanted (although we ran out of time to get to Costco!!) He knew how to schedule the day in order to make the best use of time. Although he has lived in Japan for 30 years, growing up in the Netherlands gives him the unique perspective of seeing Japan as a tourist and as a local. He was able to explain Japanese customs, traditions, and way of life in a way that Westerners can easily understand and appreciate. Although we had particular food requirements, Serge was able to convince us to eat street meat. He did not steer us wrong - it was delicious! Traveling around Nagoya by car with Serge allowed us to have more detailed and personal conversations and felt like we were out for the day with a friend. Finally, we were not expecting to have our own personal photographer for the day. The pictures he took of us were amazing and certainly helped us to remember our day around Nagoya! He also mentioned he does tours of other cities, so we will definitely look him up when we come back!

Serge was a great guide to travel with. Very responsive to emails and also took lots of pictures for us. We wanted to go to a location that is about 1.5 hours outside of Nagoya and he was able to accommodate us easily. He prepared snacks and water for us for the road trip and took us to some less traveled places in Nagoya. The only down side is that he forgot people need to eat! we were so busy traveling and site seeing that we did not have time to get any lunch. (I couldn't suggest any lunch places since I don't know where we are and he didn't suggest eating lunch at any point).

This was an amazing tour! Our guide was fun, informative, and knowledgeable about her city. The communication was seamless as to where to meet outside of the port.We were taken to all the highlights of the city. By time we were taken back to the port, we felt our guide was a family friend. Don’t miss this tour, so much better than the ship’s excursions!!!!
