Ayaz Kala is very old place with two big fortresses in the Khorezm region. On this tour, you will visit these ancient fortresses, built over 2000 years ago. Fortress Toprak Kala
Toprak Kala is an ancient city and fortress in the Khorezm region. It was built many centuries ago and was once an important place for the Khorezmshahs. 5.00Sukharab is a top notch tour guide for the Kalas around Khiva. He’s extremely knowledgeable about Uzbekistan history, history, legends and stories about the Kalas. To prepare his tour, he visited and interviewed local seniors, this enables him to have a deeper understanding of history than other local guides. Sukharab used to work for an American company, his English is fluent- one of the best English speaking tour guide I have met in Uzbekistan. In order to provide his guests satisfactory experiences and meets all kinds of needs, Sukharab only takes one tour a day. Unlike many reckless Uzbekistan drivers, he drives carefully and smoothly. Safety is always his top priority. We had a great time with Sukharab. He’s highly recommended if you visit Khiva or kalas close to Khiva. Also he’s friendly enough to arrange us car to Nukus from the last kala directly to safe time and travel distance. Mr. Sukharab can also arrange travels to Turkmanistan and he’s a true one-stop solution for your Karakalpakstan experiences.

5.00Sukhrab was very punctual in picking us up at our guesthouse. He was very friendly and spoke English very well. He was happy to chat with us about life in Uzbekistan and happy to answer any of our questions - which we found very interesting and helpful to get a better idea of culture and current life here. He was also very knowledgeable about the Fortresses and the history of Uzbekistan. I would highly recommend this day tour. It was very memorable.

5.00Sukhrab was an excellent guide. We were picked up at our hotel right on time. We were provided with plenty of water. The tour lasted about 7 hours. There was a lot of driving but that gave us a chance to talk about all things Uzbek. The fortresses were quite interesting and Sukhrab’s history seemed quite in depth. All in all, we enjoyed the tour very much.
