The Ibleo promontory is richly engraved by a dense hydro-geographical network. The erosive action of the water has created real canyons, among the most interesting and spectacular there is certainly the Cava Grande del Cassibile, one of the wonders of Sicily, a place where at the same time you can discover an almost uncontaminated nature and traces that man has left over the millennia.

In this impressive cleft of the plateau, the ancient Kakyparis, of which Thucydides speaks when he refers to the retreat of the Athenians in the context of the alatene events of the Peleponnesian war, in its 10km of the central part, where it reaches the width of about one thousand meters and the three hundred meters deep, it flows and continues to erode the soft Hyblean limestone with its pristine waters, forming the so-called "uruvi". Responsible are the pebbles carried by the current, in their whirling circle they crumble, the rock forming circular basins, small and deep lakes.

A pleasant, interesting, tiring half-day excursion to the right point. After several experiences with Gregorio (one more pleasant than the other) I invited some girls guests who had never done river excursions. They were pleasantly impressed with the really nice place and the competent professional guide who was able to make every explanation interesting.

A really beautiful experience... With our guide Gregorio... That not only accompanied us through the paths to get to the ponds, but told us about the flora and fauna of the territory, thus increasing our knowledge... Definitely an experience that I recommend and would do again....

An experience to remember! The trek to Cavagrande was simply wonderful: wild nature, breathtaking landscapes and ponds with crystal clear waters where we dived to cool off after the walk. The guide was very prepared and really smart, he accompanied us step by step with enthusiasm and competence, telling us curiosities and stories of the territory. We learned a lot, but above all we had a great time. Recommended for those who love adventure, nature and authentic experiences. Do it again!

Very positive experience, as always. I have already participated in several excursions with Gregorio and each time it is a pleasant adventure, with careful and timely explanations. Excellent day, accompanied by the excellent environmental guide Gregorio, in a beautiful place to visit without being too demanding the route. A walk of a couple of hours to reach the lakes of the river inside the quarry (cava in Sicilian indicates canyon) where you can take a refreshing bath in beautiful waters. Definitely in experience to do!! Thanks Gregorio for the sympathy and your stories that made us smile and learn about the area

It is an excursion in a natural environment, protected and rich in endemic plant and animal species. Rich in cicadas, grasshoppers, butterflies and other insects, I was particularly impressed by the bees its flowers. Spontaneous vegetation with typical Iblei scents. The route is a bit difficult and challenging, but beautiful and when you get to the Cassibile lakes there is a lovely, green, cool environment to amaze. We benefited from Mr. Gregory competent guide with great knowledge of the territory and plant species.

Wonderful visit, Gregorio is a guide with a very long experience, expertise and from his great sympathy (I have never made excursions in nature unlike the my partner who was perfectly comfortable and I was a little worried, but the more time passed the tour and the more relaxed I was), explained everything that the reserve represents, I really recommend it, making a visit with an experienced guide is very important both for safety (because a nature reserve can not be tackled without knowing what you do) but also because it is important to understand what you are looking at. Flagship? The encounter with a snake Beautiful! Repeat Gregory from 110 and praise!
