Covid-19 the Haarlem courtyards are not open for the public.

This would be the unique way to explore Haarlem on your own pace and in your own time.

Hofje van Oorschot

Haarlem is the home of several historic "hofjes", closed courtyards, where houses for the poor or elderly were established, mostly paid for by testamentary bequest of a rich member of a prominent family. Hofjes are often small quiet paradises in the middle of the busy city. However, het "Hofje van Oorschot" can only be admired from behind a closed gate, no admittance for outsiders.

The audio tour was great, informative, with much history, architecture, culture. The town is adorable. I purchased 4, but only had access to one so we huddled around the phone. We saw other groups doing the same. It took all morning and a phone call to Tripadvisor to gain access. Then I was reminded the tour was only good until midnight. So, the tour is great, but spending your vacation time trying to figure out how to download and gain access was annoying. Then to only be semi successful, the situation was frustrating. The meeting area is not at the address. Once you have the tour, maps takes you to a corner where the tour is downloaded. Very confusing app. Buy a book and do your own tour. We did not have the time to finish the your. The City is quite walkable.

The app. on our phone was very easy to use and understand. The history of the city and information on the buildings was very helpful and interesting. We went at a leisurely pace, stopped for coffee and easily started back where we left off. The total time to visit all the sites was around 2 hours. Easy train ride from Amsterdam and short walk from train station to start of the walking tour.

When your in The Netherlands then on top of mind is a trip to Amsterdam. However, Haarlem is a better alternative. We you are on Airport Schiphol you can go by train to Haarlem (10 minutes ride). Haarlem has everything. Beautiful town with a lot of history. Do this walk and enjoy the culture of this city.

We stayed in Haarlem while visiting it, Keukenhof and Amsterdam. So we wanted an informative tour. While on the tour, it wasn't clear which building was being referred to, and we couldn't figure out how to rewind to hear things again. So when it just started as we walked to the station, we were already behind, and didn't know which building the tour was talking about. We just walked and walked, and when we did know which place the tour referred to, we often didn't care, as it didn't have any interest. I wish we could have cut part of it out, but that wasn't easy or possible. I had high hopes for this tour, which didn't materialize. We lost our one day in Haarlem, and should have investigated it ourselves.

What a beautiful place Haarlem is. This audio tour gave us direction and context to the history and relevance of many of the buildings as you wander around at your own pace. Loved this tour!

FRAUD. Planned our day in Netherland around this excursion only to find tour doesn’t exist. Went to start point which turned out to be a second floor residence. Got a postman to help find the address with the same result. Trip to call phone number on paper work - not a good number. Will be seeking refund from Viator and recommending Trip Advisor take down this website. Finally, the listed vendor is Pocketguide Caribbean, which should have been a red flag.

What a great way to conduct a audio guided walking tour!. Extremely cost-effective. Easy to download once you receive the company’s email. Four stars because of what it needs to be better: the guidance. I’m spoiled by the guidance provide by Waze and Google Maps. I found it difficult to proceed to each stop efficiently (and actually missed a third of the walk, mostly but not all my own fault), I would used this company’s products again without hesitation.

Great tour, great value. I don't like to walk with a guide. This is so relaxed and lots of information. We stopped for drinks and lunch along the way. It was a great informative tour. Great city.

Text and directions clear. Pleasant voice too. Walking through a city in this way is very pleasant: you choose your own time and pace and draw attention to buildings, statues etc. that you might otherwise pass by.
