Become acquainted with the fascinating Tongan culture and traditions on this half day tour. Visit the Anahulu Cave Ancient Tonga Cultural Centre where a variety of interesting exhibits provide an insight into the local culture. You will be welcomed with a Kava Ceremony, and you will also discover the intricacies of tapa cloth making and mat weaving. You will also learn how the humble coconut is used in everyday Tongan life with a demonstration of coconut climbing and husking.

A great guide, a wonderful adventure, and a few accidental grumps

5.00Great stops and a really fun day overall! One thing worth mentioning: Anahulu Cave is not the place for anyone with mobility or vision challenges. The steps down to the water can be a bit of an adventure, and while there are lights, it still leans heavily toward the “mysterious cave vibes” side of lighting. Think atmospheric… not “well-lit hotel staircase.” Our guide was amazing and did a fantastic job, even though a few folks in our van seemed like they had been forced onto the tour against their will. (You know the type—on vacation in paradise but somehow still grumpy about it.) Their mood tried to sneak into the van, but we refused to let it ruin our good time. Because of a small miscommunication, we missed the kava ceremony, but our guide more than made up for it by taking us to the blowholes at Mapu'a 'a Vaea Blowholes — and WOW. Totally worth it. Watching the ocean blast sky-high through the rocks felt like nature putting on a fireworks show. Despite a few gloomy travel companions and one missed stop, we had a GREAT time and came away with some unforgettable memories.
