  I had a very concerning experience with tour operator Feofaaki’akakau Hamala. I booked a tour months in advance for my mother and me, and sent a 300 TOP deposit in good faith after being pressured to pay quickly via MoneyGram to secure the tour. After repeatedly delaying to send the itinerary for months, he later claimed his vehicle had been unavailable for a long time and began insisting that I send additional money to rent another vehicle, despite our original agreement being payment in cash upon arrival. He avoided giving clear answers and instead sent emotionally manipulative messages about his personal and financial problems. When I requested a refund so I could arrange another operator, his behavior became increasingly disrespectful and unprofessional. He insulted me, made inappropriate comments, spoke negatively about other tour operators, and even made threats after I mentioned reporting the matter to authorities. I also was told by the tourism authorities of Tonga that he has not renewed his tourism license for quite some time, yet continues accepting bookings and operating tours, which is extremely concerning and illegal Finally, the tourist authorities pressured him to give me my money back, as if not we would go to the police, and even then, he refused until the last day of my departure, creating an awful time for us

  Hamala was an excellent tour guide. Really knowledgeable about the island and took us to great places. Would definitely recommend.
