Your Rum tour begins with a drive through lush vegetation, sugar cane fields and bamboo-lined roads to the Hampden Estate. Hampden Estate produces distinctive types of rum known for centuries throughout Europe, England, Scotland, South America and other destinations where they are used to flavor and blend many retail rum brands.

The road to the estate was in poor condition so allow extra travel time. The tour was fascinating and you see pride in the faces of staff. We learned a lot and enjoyed the experience.

Steve was a wonderful tour guide. Funny, knowledgeable and welcoming! They were very generous with tastings and the Jerk Chicken lunch was very good!

Steven and Sugar were the best hosts. They both made us laugh with some jokes. The kitchen staff made excellent jerk chicken and pork! The rum was awesome and Sugar showed how to enhance it by adding different mixers! So delicious! It shows how everyone that works there enjoys their jobs... everyone is smiling and laughing.
If you love rum, you HAVE to do this tour

This rum distillery has existed since 1753. Hampden is the source, not the imitation. I can’t even put it into words. Visiting this place was akin to a Catholic getting to walk freely through the Vatican archives. Steve, Peppie and Jennifer were phenomenal hosts. Steve was an incredibly knowledgeable guide - not just about the rum but also the entire history of the island. And Jennifer’s cooking was fantastic. Note: don’t use the bottled sauce on the table - ask for extra house-made sauce. And if you really want to roll local, order the jerk pork, not the chicken!

Excellent tour. Sugar (Susan) and Phillip were knowledgeable as guide and driver. It's a beautiful estate and we learned a lot about Jamaica and making rum. Definitely recommend this tour!!!

Amazing to see the the plantation/estate. We booked through Royal Caribbean Cruise we were on. The roads are pothole riddled in some segments, but our driver and guide were very experienced , and got us there and back without incident ( through a hard rainstorm for the last leg). Had our taste of many different rum (quality & potency). Had a create Jamaican lunch and our guide Steven was well versed in the history, and importance to the worldwide rum industry overall....Its worth the trip!

One of the best “tasting” tours I’ve done. From production through to the tasting everything was excellent. Our guide Steve was excellent and he and all the team that were there for the group made everyone feel welcome. The history lesson on Rum and Jamaica so much so that I’m giving up gin for rum now! :-)

The staff at Hampden and the experience in being at the oldest working rum distiller was amazing. Please do the Tour and Lunch!! You will not regret it. Got there through the expertise of Mr. Norman Dixon. What a treat!!
