All our guides are passionate locals who share access to the intimate, local and exclusive coastal community of Howth, its exquisite nature and history. This magical walking and boat tour takes you through time, savouring this ancient village and harbour and a truly magical coastal boat trip. This UNESCO Biosphere shelters wonderful wildlife and fabulous views. Feel old Ireland, in the footsteps of a King. Learn tales of the offshore islands of Ireland Eye and Lambay and where the the Vikings and Normans made their mark. King Sitric founded the 11th century Abbey before Howth Castle and the Pirate Queen famously fell out. The French Revolution left us Martello Towers. Captain William Bligh of the Mutiny on The Bounty did his bit and the young Winston Churchill was hidden from his parents scandals. The Howth Gun Running and the Asgard armed the 1916 Easter Rising. The artists, poets and Rock and Rollers also made themselves at home and U2 cut their teeth here.

Howth Lighthouse
Taking in the picturesque Howth Lighthouse, we hear about the famous Asgard ship, the Howth Gun running and the 1916 Rising Visit the East Pier shipwrecks, pirates and smugglers.

5.00My friend Sophia booked this tour for us and by far the hike will be my favourite memory of Ireland. Conor (one N not two) was absolutely amazing, he took us to his favourite tree, we climbed the cliffs and we even got to have some blackberries along the way. Thank you Conor, I shall remember that hike forever.

5.00Our guide Conor was exceptional. He was warm, welcoming and made our day enjoyable. We would recommend this to anyone wanting a different pace from the city centre. We hiked up above Howth Castle where the views were absolutely breathtaking, we were blessed with clear weather to see for miles out. Our guide shared many interesting stories and history about the area and he lead us to the Lower Cliff Path for the walk along the cliffs. It was amazing, the views! We walked through the town and on the castle grounds and stopped in a few places along the hike to take pictures. The fairy trees and Conor showing us his favourite tree, along with some poetry as we stopped by where W.B. Yeats once lived was so sweet! He recommended a few places after our tour and we opted for Abbey Tavern for dinner. There was a warm fire inside and we had a great dinner. Our tour with Conor made our trip truly unforgettable and far exceeded our expectations. This was my first trip to Ireland and a birthday celebration with a friend so this tour made our visit to Howth very special and a permanent memory for us. We were sent a relive link to revisit where we walked and hiked along with pictures he took along the way. Conor you made our day perfect!

5.00When in Ireland... do as the Irish do! I was fortunate enough to get a tour of Historic Howth with Paula from Shane's Howth Adventures. It was a rainy day in Ireland (which can be a bit common)... but the rain wasn't going to stop us from completing the tour. Paula was super friendly from the minute we met until the very end of the tour (was supposed to be 2 hours but went a bit longer by mutual agreement). Paula took me to so many places in Howth and explained the history of each place in intimate detail. From panoramic views of Ireland's Eye (Ey) to old ruins... I saw more in a couple hours than some of the locals probably even know exists there. Haha! I booked this tour for my final day in Ireland and it was an absolute jewel in the crown of my visit. I will never forget my trip to Ireland... from the beautiful Island itself, to the true locals that have called it home for thousands of years... and Paula helped sear that impression upon my mind and soul for the rest of my life. Thanks Shane, Paula and the entire staff of Shane's Howth Adventures for making my final day in Ireland a day I will never forget.

5.00Our guide was very kind and patient and modified the tour as we were the only attendees. She walked at a pace that worked for my mother and even suggested a tea break. Very informative and a lovely day!

5.00I did the tour with Paola, we walked all afternoon seeing the castle, the church of St Mary, the ancient village, the cliff and the Bayley lighthouse. Explanation of howth's history in excellent and easy to understand English, gave me great ideas for where to eat and what to do in and around Dublin. Thank you for the wonderful afternoon!

5.00Paula was our guide and she provided great insight into the town of Howth and the surrounding areas. We had an extensive tour of the harbor and the castle and finished with the cliff walk. It was amazing

5.00What an amazing day in Howth! Paula, our tour guide, was awesome!!! She was very knowledgable, She allowed us to dictate the pace and was happy to take family photos of us. Loved the castle grounds tour portion. It doesn’t get any better. Don’t miss this attraction. You won’t regret a moment of your tour. The Schaefers from VA.

5.00Paula was extremely enthusiastic and willing to share with us the history and culture of the Howth,and of Ireland. We enjoyed walking up the Howth Caatle,the village and the piers. She even showed us the way to the fantastic Baily lighthouse. It had been an enjoyable afternoon with great scenery and chatting. Thanks Paula!

5.00We've been brought around from Paola. She toured us to the village, harbour, views and castle. Paola was extremely kind in taking us around by car as one of the group was feeling sick and could not stay out long. She told us about the ancient and current Howth cultural heritage pointing out the best restaurants as well. At the end of the tour Paola dropped us at the Howth St. Will defo be back!! Thanks Paola!!
