Discover the outer Hauraki Gulf aboard the 41-foot catamaran Pacific Star, with daily departures from Waiheke Island.

We’ll stop at a pest-free island for a guided walk, plus you’ll have opportunities for swimming, snorkelling and stand-up paddleboarding.

Our guide will help you learn about the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park, its islands and people. You’ll spot seabirds and may see dolphins, and even whales, as we glide along with the wind in our sails.

This unique eco adventure is the only day sailing trip offered in the outer gulf and departing from Waiheke Island.

If you’d like to take the helm or help us trim the sails, skipper Bruce will be happy to show you the ropes.

Your itinerary will depend on the wind direction and weather, so that we can give you the most enjoyable and comfortable experience.

What an incredible experience! Water was blue, lunch was delish, vibes were good, and so many birds! Cindy, Bruce, and Heidi were all knowledgeable and fun guides. Do this tour!

This was such a great experience, well worth the money. Swimming in the ocean was so refreshing and it felt like we had the whole gulf to ourselves. Took out the Kayak, which was great fun Nice that there were only a few people on the boat. Felt spacious and that it was still a romantic experience. Nice nature walk The crew and food were amazing

Great trip. Bruce was great on service and how well he handled the boat on his own. When a hat went over the side he was on it. Turned the boat and recovered hat with ease! Thanks for a great trip!

Learned a lot about local flora and fauna during the island walk; had a terrific guide and “captain”; enjoyed a beautiful sail and a marvelous lunch.

Fantastic day in Waiheke. The boat was beautiful and the hosts were interesting and very friendly. A perfect mix of sailing, walking, and then some swimming/kayaking/snorkeling. Delicious lunch too. Great way to spend your time in Waiheke.

We had a wonderful day sailing around and exploring the islands. We relaxed and learned a lot about the area thanks to Bruce’s vast experience and generous hospitality. We would highly recommend!

We had the most amazing day sailing in the gulf! Gabrielle and Bruce were terrific hosts. They were so knowledgeable about the flora, fauna and history of the gulf. They are passionate about conservation and have insight into all the conservation efforts in the area. Their love for their home environment is contagious. We loved the bush walk and learned so much. We saw many native birds and learned about the forest regeneration efforts. We sailed, snorkeled, paddle boarded and hiked. The lunch was delicious! I would highly recommend this tour! Booking and communication were easy and the day was unforgettable!

Amazing Eco-Sailing Adventure in the Hauraki Gulf We had an unforgettable experience with Terra and Tide’s Hauraki Gulf eco-sailing tour. From start to finish, everything was well-organized and exceeded our expectations. The team’s passion for the environment was evident throughout the journey. The sailboat was both comfortable and eco-friendly, allowing us to enjoy the beauty of the Gulf with minimal impact on nature. The highlight was sailing in the Hauraki Gulf. The crew shared fascinating insights into the ecosystem and conservation efforts in the area, making it not just a scenic trip but an educational one as well. We also enjoyed the opportunity to explore secluded beaches and walk through lush native bush and learn all about the native birds of NZ. The whole experience felt personalized and authentic, with plenty of time to soak in the surroundings. If you’re looking for a relaxing, eco-conscious way to explore the Hauraki Gulf, I can’t recommend Terra and Tide highly enough. This was truly a memorable day on the water!

We took a catamaran out with Bruce to Tiritiri Matangi Island. Not only was the island itself an incredible experience but Bruce was an outstanding and informative host. He let us try our hand at sailing, provided excellent food, and was a fantastic companion overall. Had a great time and couldn't recommend this enough!

Wind and sailing were excellent. Captain Bruce let us sail quite a bit. We also had a walk on Tiritiri Matangi island that had amazing birds and views. His lunch spread was also top-notch.
