This tour takes us in two of the most charismatic and respected winemakers in Bosnia&Herzegovina, both based in the picturesque wine country of Mostar.
Emporia winery in its sensational wine tasting cellars, which are based in the picturesque southern Mostar Valley , and their exceptional use of indigenous grapes as well as international varieties is a wonderful journey of discovery.
Much smaller in production, but far more experimental with his unique organic wines made exclusively from indigenous grapes from Herzegovina, Josip Brkić candlelit tasting experience in his family wine cellar could not be more intimate. Add to that a selection of his excellent flavoured olive oils, and here is the perfect introduction to the fruits of Herzegovina, expertly handled.
We have carefully created this tour to showcase the incredible beauty of the Mostar area and to introduce you to the best products that the Herzegovina has to offer.

Our journey to the wine country of Mostar from the picture-postcard valley of Neretva river takes us up winding hill roads. The view below of a patchwork of bright green vineyards is truly breathtaking. Emporia wine cellar is situated at the very heart of this hilly region. The high quality Emporia wines are the result of natural blessings like its sunny slopes, karst soil structure, famous bora and jugo winds and favorable Mediterranean climate. Here we will visit the famous Imperial vineyards and wine cellars where we have an opportunity to learn about history of wine growing in this area, and taste the wine and local specialities ( traditional local cheeses, smoked beef ham, homemade bread etc) The best place for wine to show its power is in a winery or a cellar, where you enjoy immensely and learn a lot.
Wine cellar Brkic
Then we will pass on to the Brkić wine cellar in the small town of Čitluk. Josip Brkić is still the only organic winemaker in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Using biodynamic practices and indigenous grapes, he’s making very pure and effusive wines and Mjesečar, a skin-fermented white wine made from 100% Žilavka, is exceptional. Mjesečar means the Moon Walker in Bosnian and it is Josip’s first wine made in a complete organic way. All the farming and winemaking work is done according to the phases of the Moon as you can see on the wine’s label. Sitting around the table, drinking wine and eating famous Livno sheep cheese, local high quality olive oil, fig jam and homemade prosciutto, you feel like you’ve been invited into a family member’s home for a pleasant getaway. For Brkić winery, producing a new wine is like giving birth to a new life. The wine is magical.

5.00Was blown away with the level of service and knowledge the tour guide had. He described the mirco climate of the valley showcasing it's perfection for growing wine. His passion of Bosnian wine was apparent and infectious. The wineries were beautiful and in Bosnian fashion nice and friendly. The meat and cheese platters were amazing. Would definitely go again in the spring or summer to see the vineyards alive and green.

5.00We had booked the private wine tour 🍷 around Mostar and were very satisfied. Very personal attention, good selection of wineries, great information and culinary pampering included. You just notice that Čamil does the guiding with heart and soul. Highly recommended.

5.00Me and my friend went on this trip, and it was wonderful. We have done a lot of tours, but this really stood out. Lovely wines, food and Camil is a really knowledgable and nice guide that told us everything we needed to know about Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Really good value for the price. Do not miss it!😊

5.00I did two outings with Ćamil: a day hike to Prenj and the wine route. I met a competent guide, well informed, calm and especially nice person. Communication was easy. Ćamil taught me a lot about beautiful Bosnia and Herzegovina and I will not hesitate to book with him again.

5.00I rarely book tours, I'm more of a DIY type and now, thinking about the wonderful day just spent with Camil and Semira, I'm overjoyed to have done it! At the agreed time they picked me up at the hotel, three stops including lunch, I met extraordinary characters and I learned a lot about the history of Herzegovina thanks to Camil’s great experience. But the icing on the cake was discovering that Camil also speaks Italian 😍 in short, an amazing day of 7 hours flown like a breath and an indelible memory of Mostar and its surroundings. Thank you so much!!!

5.00This is the best food/wine tour we have ever been on; we've been on many! This private tour started off with history and visits to some great places around Mostar. The guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The tour was well thought out and encompassed the best Mostar has to offer. Who would have thought that the Mostar countryside could have such beautiful wineries. The history, food, wine, and hospitality was above and beyond what we expected. You must go on this tour as you will not be disappointed!

5.00Chama is one of the best guides I’ve ever had in all my travels. He’s spent his entire life there, repeatedly jumped off the Mostar bridge, loves the food and wine, and even shared his injuries and stories for the war. My wife and I have been to most of the major wine regions of Europe and we pleasantly surprised by the wine being produced here, plus the meat and cheeses we had during the tour were all local and exceptional. We enjoyed our wine tour so much we booked a tour of Herzegovina with him the next day. It was so much more enjoyable than what we would have otherwise done exploring on our own. We are great food and sites we would have otherwise never found.

5.00Chama was fantastic. He taught us so much; he was so willing to share his experiences and country with us. The wineries we visited were top notch and so welcoming. We initially booked for just a day of wine tasting and ended up booking another day with Chama to see various sites around Mostar because he was so knowledgeable and helpful. We loved Bosnia and hope to someday return. When we do, we will most definitely reach out to Chama and Herzeg Day Tours to coordinate and guide our activities. Very highly recommend!!
