We spent the entire day with Freddie and had the best time ever. He showed us Ambureni, a small village in the slopes of Mount Meru and home to the Meru tribe. We learned so much about farming and bananas! We then had a great coffee experience and the singing and dancing felt naturally - not as a show for tourists. We had a very delicious lunch and spent time at a beautiful waterfall we had just for ourselves - try some authentic banana beer fresh from the brewery - like a local. The tour ended with a big swing and a great view. We had the best time and hope that others will find this hidden gem.

Lovely afternoon spent on Freddie’s family farm. Picked up from hotel at the scheduled time and drove through the village to the farm where we had a lovely walk to the river. Then we returned to pick coffee berries and shown how coffee was prepared by hand before mechanism. We sang and danced around the clay pot where the coffee was being pounded into powder then sieved and boiled over an open fire. A delicious cup of coffee was consumed We then walked around the farm to the Airbnb and tasted a few teas, banana wine, ginger wine, hot chocolate and the delicious honey. Freddie is an artist so there was an opportunity to buy some art, coffee and a few other crafts I was then taken back to the hotel. A great way to spend an after in Arusha

A local man's effort to show his village just outside of Arusha. We toured the grounds, picked coffee beans, which we then ground, roasted, and made coffee. Some of the village young men performed a dance around the fire, we met a young woman studying to become a guide and driver, and a few of the children who came to meet us. It was an interesting, informative, and delightful afternoon. We're glad we chose this tour.

If you want to experience life is Arusha… this is the tour for you. Our guides , Freddy and Thadei, were amazing. They were very friendly and informative. Freddy is an amazing artist, and we were happy to buy one of his paintings. He didn’t ask us to… so no pressure. We were honored to see their homes. The coffee experience at the village was extremely educational and fun. Our favorite part was meeting the children of the village and Freddy’s little daughter. We brought candy which they all were happy to receive. Truly beautiful people. The waterfall swim was refreshing, and the swing tempted our fear of heights. If you have a free day in Arusha, don’t miss this experience.

This tour was much better than I anticipated, the tour guides were very informative and helpful. I learned a lot about the surrounding areas and the tour was done at a leisurely pace. It didn't feel rushed, which I was grateful for. The local food served was very tasty. I would recommend this tour for those who'd like to learn more about the local culture of Arusha.

***This review reflects my personal experience and documentation from my trip. I’m sharing it to help fellow travelers make informed choices.*** I visited in March 2025 with my family and loved the village/coffee portions (the demo and big swing were great). Our guides were Praylord, Freddie, and Prosper. They were warm and attentive—held our hands on the steep paths and took photos. The nursery stop (presented to us as an “orphanage”) was my highlight. Freddie also offered small souvenirs (paintings around $10 and spices) to “support the community.” My husband felt a bit pressured, but we did buy some. After I got home, I sent a little over $5,000 (mix of items and cash) for supplies/livestock for the children. Later I discovered problems: some money was described back to me as “loans” to individuals and I wasn’t given itemized receipts. When I purchased food directly, I found the real monthly cost was about $80, not the $700 I had been quoted. I’m now working with a local attorney in Arusha to resolve these funding issues so support reaches the children as intended. My advice: enjoy the tour, and if you’d like to help, bring goods (food, school supplies). If you prefer cash, keep it small — about $5 is generous locally — and avoid large bills (a mistake I made). Beautiful experience overall—just share support in a way that truly reaches the children as intended.

Wow! We just returned from a great experience with this tour group. My wife and I spent 7 hours exploring the lifestyle in a tribal village, actually making our own coffee, viewing a waterfall/swimming hole and topped off by a trip to a scenic overlook. This was a great value. The tour team made this tour unique.

Was an ok tour except people should be warned that they will spend far more time traveling on very bumpy roads (about7 out of 12 hours) than at the attractions themselves. For the waterfall tour, when they say wear hiking shoes they mean it! It's a hike on uneven surfaces, much uphill and downhill, of about 3 kilometers to the waterfall. Those who have experienced real hot springs may be disappointed with the tour "hotsprings). It is actually a warmish river pool. However, the water is very clean and refreshing. The drive home was hair-raising, particularly as our vehicle did not have proper seat belts. Tailgating at excessive speeds, people constantly passing in unsafe circumstances. Our driver told us that since we were old (we are 2 women, 69 and 70) we've lived long enough anyway. Uhhh...

You are welcomed into the village by Freddie and Pamela and all of their friends and neighbours. Walk to a beautiful mountain river. A fantastic lunch and lots of fascinating information and insights into village life and small plantations. The highlight however was the coffee making. From picking beans, all the steps to brewing and finally an excellent cup of coffee. All this accompanied by Swahili songs and dancing. An unforgettable and wonderful experience
