This excursion is a wonderful experience for a nature walk in St. Kitts' main central reserve national forest! This operator-led hike of various levels is a great way to connect with nature and enjoy its therapeutic benefits. The lush greenery, flowing river, giant trees, and wildlife like birds and Vervet monkeys all contribute to a peaceful and rejuvenating experience.
After this, supporting local vendors by trying out coconut water, local drinks, or rum at the Wingfield Sugar estate is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Additionally, visiting the Caribelle Batik Botanical Garden for a shopping/historical tour will add another dimension to your nature walk experience.

5.00Let me say that Janeel Boon is one of the nicest people you will meet. He is all about his participants. The hike itself was a little disappointing as we did not see any wild life except a hermit crab. Janeel tried hard to keep our interest talking about the rain forest. Pointing out certain trees and vegetation. He tried his best to keep us going safely, holding us up at times. We are in our 70s range. It was only my wife and myself, kind of a private tour. Janeel had a new guide with him, Sunshine kind of showing her the ropes a bit. Speaking of ropes we came to a divide in the rain forest to either go down closer to the water or up and around. This became the bad part! I chose to go up. Bad move because part of the way up we encountered ropes to ascend. At this point we should have stopped and retraced down. I guess my ego got in the way and we forged up. We made it though. On the way down my wife unfortunately slipped and fell, bruising her hand and slightly her back. Not the guides fault. I also think she may have had a diabetic issue and got dizzy. When we exited the rain forest it was just a bit over 2 hours. we had chosen not to go to Romney Manor as we had already seen it from a previous tour. As a note: Janeel has stayed in touch almost daily after our tour to check on my wife. how is that for a tour guide. Thanks again Janeel

5.00We had a great experience. Our guide Janeel was great and very knowledgeable and kind. Our son left his bucket at the rain forest. Janeel found it the next day and even returned it to our hotel. Above and beyond. Great customer service. Thank you Janeel.

5.00Janeel is amazing! We spent 4 hours on a short hike and tour with him when we were there for a day in a cruise. He is passionate about what he does, very knowledgable on the area and a great guide. Highly Recommed them!

5.00Janeel was an outstanding host from start to finish. He picked up our group of nine right at our hotel and gave us a brief tour of Basseterre on the way to the rainforest, which was a great bonus. Throughout the hike, he was incredibly knowledgeable, answering all of our questions and pointing out unique plants and features along the trail. Some parts of the hike were definitely challenging, but Janeel kept us motivated and made sure no one fell behind. His encouragement really made a difference. At the end, he even treated us to fresh banana bread and water, which was a perfect touch after the trek. I highly recommend booking a hike with Janeel at JB Taxi & Excursions—it was a fantastic experience all around.

4.00This was an easy hike and was nice after being at sea for 2 days. It’s not strenuous at all but we did have to take our shoes off to cross twice. If you have any mobility issues, this would not work for you.

5.00Drive from cruise port to rainforest was 30 mins. Met hiking guide DJ there for 2 mile hike uphill, then down. He gave us extra water, juice, and a snack. Mostly easy hike but some steep sections inc 100 ft using ropes to climb. Warm and humid in February, shorts and tshirt weather. Afterwards we went to glass beach which was short hike to see smooth glass particles. We didn’t go to Romney for shopping and beverages as we’d been there before. Overall nice hike, good exercise, not much scenery though.

5.00Janeel was great: friendly, timely, knowledgeable, and caring. We were seniors and felt very safe throughout, especially during the challenging part. He took the time to educate us about the forest, the land, flora and fauna in a respectful and fun way. We appreciated being a small group with two guides, who provided encouragement, care and concern throughout plus water, energy drinks, and treats at the finish. Terrific communication before, during and after...Best 'what to bring' list I've ever seen!

5.00If you are visiting St Kitts, Janeel's tour is a must-do!!! We came with our two young children, and Janeel was so accommodating, helping us plan a private rainforest tour that would be suitable for our family. He was so thoughtful, planning activitiea we most wanted to do (monkeys) and even accommodating our special diets. He truly, truly went above and beyond for our family. We had so much fun with Janeel! He knows so much about the island, and we really enjoyed learning about the exotic native species. Janeel knows where all of the native fruit trees are at, and you will find, pick, and sample many native fruits - most of which I'd never heard of - on your hike. He was so good with our kids! He picked flowers for my daughter's hair, introduced her to wild monkeys, and held her hand over some of the rougher terrain. By the end of the trip my 4-year old said he was her new best friend, and can't wait to go back again! Thank you so much for this memorable experience. We will call you again when we return to St Kitts :)
