• Perfect Hike for Short Stays in Dharamshala — Highly Recommend!

  The view from the top is beautiful—highly recommend! We only had a few days in Dharamshala so this day tour was perfect for us. Mr. Onkar was a great tour guide, knowledgable and adjusted the pace to fit our needs. It took us shy of 5 hours to complete the hike round trip, excluding a long break at the summit. The terrain starts off with loose rocks with flat pathways in between and then transitions to larger rocks/more rugged terrain. There were 4 of us and we all wore a variety of footwear from sneakers, to hiking shoes, to active sandals so I would suggest wearing what works for you. We prepared by bringing snacks and ample water for the hike, but there are small stands along the way where you can purchase water, small bites and snacks as well if you want to lighten your load. We also booked pick up and drop off transportation through the vendor which was super convenient. The road up to the Gallu Devi Temple is very rugged and narrow so we opted for two smaller cars to transport us. Mr. Bhatia was great at organizing and setting expectations ahead of the tour. He was super responsive when we had any questions. Would do this hike again.

  The trek up Triund was very enjoyable and the guide really helpful. Definitely something I would recommend to others but I would suggest booking elsewhere. I paid a premium to Viator for a private tour but I ended up on a group tour. The response from Customer Services was very poor so I won’t use Viator again. Just book direct with local operator for a fairer price.

  The guide was incompetent and not caring at all... He has forgotten to advise us to take passports with us as they were supposed to be checked, he did not provide any good briefing in respect of hike profile for instance, hiking poles would be helpful for some of us but he did not even look, and they do not provide poles anyway.

  Good that we are more or less experienced hikers but for less experienced it would not be a joy probably?

  Our tour guide was very knowledgable. The information on Viator about this tour was very minimal. Although we loved it, we were not prepared for the rugged terrain and also did not pack layers or a rain jacket that were need at the top. For the price we paid, we should have been fully informed on what to expect.
