Hiroshima is home to the historically significant and moving Peace Memorial and Museum. In the city stands Hiroshima Castle, nicknamed the ‘carp castle’ because of the glistening carp fish residing in the moats. The Shukkei-en Garden captures the beauty of a Japanese style garden in a small space. On this private walking tour with a Government Licensed and Experienced English speaking guides, you will be able to experience these sights without worry. Your guide will also be able to teach you about the history and culture of Hiroshima in a personalized way that you can only achieve with a private guide.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park (平和記念公園, Heiwa Kinen Kōen) is one of the most prominent features of the city. Even visitors not looking for it will likely stumble upon the large park of over 120,000 square meters. Its trees, lawns, and walking paths are in stark contrast to the surrounding downtown area. Before the bomb, the area of what is now the Peace Park was the political and commercial heart of the city. For this reason, it was chosen as the pilot's target. Four years to the day after the bomb was dropped, it was decided that the area would not be redeveloped but instead devoted to peace memorial facilities. Admission Fee: ¥200
Hiroshima Castle
Hiroshima Castle (広島城, Hiroshimajō), also called the Carp Castle, is a good example of a castle built on a plain in the center of a city as opposed to hilltop and mountaintop castles. Its main keep is five stories tall, and its grounds are surrounded by a moat. Also within the castle's precincts are a shrine, some ruins and a few reconstructed buildings of the Ninomaru (second circle of defense). Hiroshima developed as a castle town, whereby the castle was both the physical and economical center of the city. Built in 1589 by the powerful feudal lord Mori Terumoto, Hiroshima Castle was an important seat of power in Western Japan. While it was spared the demolishment that many other castles met during the Meiji Restoration, like the rest of the city, Hiroshima Castle was destroyed by the atomic bomb in 1945.

5.004 Hour Private Hiroshima City Walking Tour Our guide, Yuko was a wealth of information, sharing unforgettable stories about the Hiroshima city's history. She had an excellent communication skill, making sure everyone understood the plan for the day. Her enthusiasm was infectious! She shared interesting facts without overwhelming me and my wife. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. She was incredibly flexible and helped us to take small breaks between walking and navigate the logistics like train schedules, order snacks by ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience. We highly recommend Yuko!!

5.00Our time in Hiroshima with our guide profoundly depended our understanding of the horrific events of August 6, 1945, as well as the subsequent history and tributes that continue today to honour those who lost their lives. Hiroshi is knowledgeable, engaging and welcomed our many questions. Hiroshi skilfully guided us through the Peace Memorial Museum, pointing out particularly important items. We stopped at important places. For example, the site where, amongst the rubble, students returned to their studies only months after the bombing. Hiroshi made a paper crane, demonstrating the difficulty to make one. Annually 10,000,000 paper cranes are left at the Children's Peace Monument. Being with Hiroshi made Hiroshima unforgettable.

5.00Our amazing guide Kazuhisa To met us as we arrived by train and took care of all of the details of our day. He provided a wonderful tour with so much historical and real life information on the events in Hiroshima. I have used guides all over the world and he was one of the best! He even helped us find a couple of items we wanted to pick up while in Japan!

5.00Yoko was an amazing tour guide!! We learned so much history from her. She pointed out the important things as we moved through the crowds in Hiroshima museum & Peace Memorial Park. These are a "must visit" when in Hiroshima. We also visited Shukkeien Japanese Garden that was beautiful & had meaningful history. She gave us food to feed the colorful Carp fish which are so giant and fun to see. Hiroshima and their paper cranes are a very special place & Yoko was able to show us that. I highly recommend her as your private tour guide.
