Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park (平和記念公園, Heiwa Kinen Kōen) is one of the most prominent features of the city. Even visitors not looking for it will likely stumble upon the large park of over 120,000 square meters. Its trees, lawns, and walking paths are in stark contrast to the surrounding downtown area. Before the bomb, the area of what is now the Peace Park was the political and commercial heart of the city. For this reason, it was chosen as the pilot's target. Four years to the day after the bomb was dropped, it was decided that the area would not be redeveloped but instead devoted to peace memorial facilities. Admission Fee: ¥200
Hiroshima Castle
Hiroshima Castle (広島城, Hiroshimajō), also called the Carp Castle, is a good example of a castle built on a plain in the center of a city as opposed to hilltop and mountaintop castles. Its main keep is five stories tall, and its grounds are surrounded by a moat. Also within the castle's precincts are a shrine, some ruins and a few reconstructed buildings of the Ninomaru (second circle of defense). Hiroshima developed as a castle town, whereby the castle was both the physical and economical center of the city. Built in 1589 by the powerful feudal lord Mori Terumoto, Hiroshima Castle was an important seat of power in Western Japan. While it was spared the demolishment that many other castles met during the Meiji Restoration, like the rest of the city, Hiroshima Castle was destroyed by the atomic bomb in 1945.

Loved this tour, we got to see a beautiful garden, gained knowledge about the Hiroshima bombing, and got an enjoyable taste of their local cuisine. Our tour guide, Minori was a wonderful and enjoys history. She was very informative and customized this tour to what we wanted to do. We definitely enjoyed our lunch as we asked her for her recommendations as a local of Hiroshima.

A heart felt journey with Sei, our tour guide. Sei is a true gentleman, so easy to talk to and answered our many questions. What the people of Hiroshima had to endure in 1946, was harrowing, no living creature should ever have to experience. Thanks again Sei.

We really enjoyed our walking tour of Hiroshima with Yuko! She is a warm and friendly guide, with excellent English and a vocabulary better than most native speakers. Yuko took the time to explain each point of interest carefully, and allow us time to take photos. Thanks Yuko!

We did a 4 hour private tour with Yuji and had a wonderful time! He was very kind and accommodating when our train arrived late due to snow. He met us right outside our train car on the platform which was very kind. We never felt rushed in the museum and were able To take our time. Great experience!

Our tour with Yuji was so much more than sightseeing — it was a genuinely heartfelt experience. Yuji has the sweetest soul and an incredible gift for connection. Throughout the day, he didn’t just guide us through Hiroshima’s history; he opened a window into his own life. He shared stories about his children, his love for cycling, and even showed us photos of his family and his cycling adventures across Europe. Those personal moments made the tour feel intimate, warm, and so special. Yuji also has a wonderful sense of humour — he kept us smiling the entire time — and to top it all off, he surprised us by playing a beautiful tune on a windpipe instrument. It was such a moving, unexpected moment that perfectly captured the heart he pours into what he does. Thank you, Yuji, for an unforgettable experience. You left us with memories we’ll treasure forever.

Kyoko our guide was fantastic we were picked up at the cruise terminal and she had organised a vehicle for us. We spent the day visiting the important sites of Hiroshima. What we saw and learnt will stay with us forever and we hope that the people of Hiroshima can forgive the Western World for what we did too them. Once we saw the sights we got to spend a beautiful lunch with Kyoko again this made our day. Thankyou for the great experiance
