Zürich is Switzerland’s “kleintropolis“. That is what Max Frisch, a native author and architect, called this place: a small metropolis. Even though the city has grown substantially since Max’s time, on this self-guided audio tour you’ll discover just how well the description still fits!

This walk begins on the Bahnhofstrasse, at the edge of the old town. I’ll lead you along cobblestone streets beside the Limmat River and show you where the Romans and Carolingians settled. We’ll end the tour firmly in the present day at Paradeplatz near Lake Zurich.

The tour includes stories, facts and legends like:

• Where Zurich’s wealth has come from for the last 2,000 from a Roman toll station to private banking

• Medieval Zurich’s guild houses and the Craftsman Revolution

• Charlemagne, his horse and a few headless saints

• King Ludwig‘s daughters and a stag with glowing antlers

• Two brothers different paths to success in the chocolate industry

Tour was easy to follow, very informative and just the right length. We saw things we just wouldn’t have found without this - such as some amazing frescos. You need to allow time afterwards to explore the old town more yourself.

Patrica was such a wonderful guide. So kind and knowledgeable and very she was well prepared. I liked that it was a small group and felt like a friend was showing us around her home town.

What a great way to discover Zürich: at your own pace, without any pressure! You can stop at any of the beautiful spots that Cynthia's audio- tour takes you to, grab a coffee, or a bite, and continue afterwards exactly from where you had left. Cynthia's tour is very interesting, educational and her voice is mesmerising :-) My friend and I both loved this tour verry much. I will be trying Cynthia's audio- tours in other cities too!

This is the best way to see Old Town. Better and more extensive than a guide tour we did. If you enjoy self-paced tours with excellent descriptions at stopping points this tour is for you!

What a great way to see the sights at your own pace! I loved the GPS activated tour. Just walk and listen. No crowds, no fast pace. Wish I found this earlier for other cities!

Superb tour. Ideal if you want to go at your own pace and travelling alone. I had some time to kill before my flights after my business trip. Very informative. The app is superb. You don’t have to have your phone out all the time. It picks up where you are and starts talking. Very impressed

I was in Zurich by myself in the middle of November, where it was freezing and because of COVID, not a lot was happening/open. I found this tour, and it was awesome! I turned it on and was just able to walk and look at things while I listened, and it was like having a personal tour guide because the guide shared cool stories and insights that you wouldn't get just reading about something. Highly recommend!!
