Join this tour to visit two of New Zealand’s most famous attractions, Hobbiton Movie Set and Waitomo Caves, in one easy day trip from Auckland. Our tour from 1 December 2023 will be the extended Hobbiton Experience (now 2.5 hours) where you can venture beyond the door to a fully themed Hobbit Hole interior. Immerse yourself in the interior with entry hall, bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, dining area, equipped bathroom, parlour and crackling fireplace. Be fascinated as the magical world of Hobbiton comes to life and take photos in front of your favourite places like the Hobbit Holes, the Shire and the Green Dragon Inn. Then journey to the World Famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves and be captivated by the thousands of magical glowworms twinkling in the Grottos, the stalactites and stalagmites as you glide silently through the cave by boat. Marvel at the stunning scenery en route as we journey off the motorways into the real hinterland of New Zealand. All admission fees and cafe lunch included.

We do not pick up from the suburbs of Auckland; only the Downtown CBD and 1 location in South Auckland for those staying near the airport-The Sebel Manukau Hotel, 16 Lakewood Court, Manukau
There is no photography allowed in the area of the Caves where the glowworms are as the glowworms react negatively to flashlight and will turn their lights off and they then take 2 hours to return to their full luminescence.
Tour leaves Auckland at 6:30am with everyone on board-the pickups occur across the CBD in the 25 minutes prior to that

Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes: Enjoy an extended Hobbiton Movie Set experience with our increased tour length time to a 2.5 hour tour.
Complimentary Drink: Included in our tour will be a complimentary ale, stout, apple cider or non-alcoholic ginger beer.
Start Time: The start time of the tour with everyone picked up across the CBD is at 6:30am. The pickups occur in the preceding 25 minutes

Long drive but tour worth it

5.0Excellent tour. Picked up on time, long drive to Hobbiton. Enough time before tour to visit gift shop, have a cup of coffee, etc. If your pick ups run behind it will be hard to get that all in. The actual tour of Hobbiton done by those on site. Excellent job, great tour! It was just as I hoped and perhaps more as they have expanded the area some for tourists. Drove on towards caves. Stop for lunch just ok. Had a meat pie, dessert slice, and drink included. Then on to caves. Excellent on site tour there as well. The caves themselves are not impressive but seeing the gloworms was cool. Overall, although it was a long day for 2 main attractions it was worth it for me. Mike was an excellent driver and spoke throughout to give us some insight into the area and stopped a couple of times for breaks at good locations. I don't think that children would do well because of all the driving involved. It was a full 12 hours door to door.

4.0It would have been better to take this tour from Tauranga rather than Auckland. There is a lot of driving! The glow worm cave tour was nice as well as the Hobbiton tour although at Hobbiton our group was too big to be able to hear the guide. That was a huge disappointment. I also felt rushed, no time to shop or linger. The place is very cool though and they have done an excellent job recreating a version of the movie set, with attention to every detail. It was raining on our designated day but the place was nice to provide umbrellas. We just needed headphones, the guide needed a microphone or our group should have been 10 people or less. Tim was a great driver and guide.

5.0Nelson was very punctual on time and tentative to us all the time. Felt like we were going around New Zealand’s is North Island, with one of your good friends. Highly recommend, Nelson as your guide for this company to go on this tour thank you, Nelson.
