Honestly didn’t expect much, but it ended up being my favorite night in Hoi An. Just walking, eating, nothing fancy. Small places, good food, quiet streets. At some point I stopped thinking about the tour and just enjoyed the moment. That’s rare. 10/10 for the feeling.

I’d give this tour a solid 8/10. Food was good and felt local, not fancy, which I liked. Some places were very small and simple, but that’s kind of the point. The pace was relaxed and the guide was friendly, though sometimes a bit quiet. I didn’t mind. It felt more like walking with someone local than being on a big tour. Not something “wow amazing”, but a very honest and enjoyable evening in Hoi An.

It actually rained a bit during our walk, so everything was a little messy and slippery. But somehow it made the night more real. People pulled umbrellas, we waited under small roofs, kept eating anyway. The streets were quieter because of the rain, which I liked. Food was warm, especially the noodles, and that helped a lot. We ended up laughing about the rain more than being annoyed. Not a “perfect Instagram night”, but a very normal and human experience. And honestly, that’s what I remember most.

What I liked most was the pace. Nothing felt rushed. We walked slowly, stopped often, sometimes just to stand and listen or look around. It didn’t feel like “ok eat fast, next stop”. At one point we sat for quite a while just eating and talking. No pressure. The guide didn’t talk all the time, which I actually appreciated. Sometimes silence is nice. If you’re tired of packed schedules and too much information, this is a good break. More about atmosphere than checking boxes.

We did this with a group of friends because we were too tired to decide where to eat. Best decision. We just followed and didn’t think. Some spots were really hidden. One was down a small alley and we all said “no way we would find this by ourselves.” Food kept coming, small portions, so we shared everything. The grilled pork and banh xeo were the best for us. Not a party tour. More like walk, sit, eat, talk, repeat. For us it was perfect after a long hot day. Simple and chill.

I was in Hoi An by myself and booked this kind of last minute. Didn’t really want to just walk around alone again. Turned out to be a good choice. Group was small, a few couples and two solo travelers. We went to some really small places, like plastic chairs, tiny kitchen, very local. One place I would honestly never walk into alone, but the food was great. Cao lau was much better than the one I had before. Not super social but also not awkward. Just easy. Walk, eat, listen a bit, walk again. Felt safe and relaxed. Good option if you’re solo and don’t want a boring night.

I did this walk with my girlfriend on our second night in Hoi An because our hotel recommended it. It was nice to get away from the main streets and walk through small alleys where locals actually eat. One stop was a tiny place with plastic chairs, and the lady only spoke Vietnamese, which felt very real, not touristy. We tried cao lau and banh beo there, and it was much better than what we had near the river. The guide explained a bit about the dishes but also gave us time to just sit and eat, which I liked. At the end we had tea in a quiet courtyard and it was a good moment to slow down after a long day walking. Not a party tour, more calm and local. If you like simple food and walking at night, it’s a good choice.

I’m a history teacher from the US, and I joined this tour because I wanted something more meaningful than just sightseeing. Hoi An has so much cultural depth, and this evening walk helped me understand the city in a very human, everyday way. Walking through lantern-lit streets, stopping at heritage spots, and listening to stories about local life and traditions felt genuinely enriching. The food was simple but full of character, and each stop connected nicely to the stories being told. I appreciated how unhurried everything felt — there was time to reflect, ask questions, and just take things in. It didn’t feel like a tour, it felt like a quiet cultural lesson I’ll remember long after leaving Hoi An.

I joined this tour with my grandfather, who is retired and a former veteran, and it meant a lot more to us than I expected. He hadn’t been back to Vietnam in decades, and this slow evening walk felt like a gentle way for him to reconnect. We moved at an easy pace through lantern-lit streets, tried simple local food, and listened to quiet stories about Hoi An. At one point, he just stood there looking around and said it felt peaceful in a way he couldn’t explain. Sitting together at the end with tea in a quiet courtyard was a moment I’ll never forget. It didn’t feel like a tour, it felt like a small step in healing for both of us.
