An half-day trip to Thanh Dong organic farm brings you closer to the beauty of Hoi An’s countryside and its friendly people. We will join them in their daily work of organic farming and also cook your own lunch with the host assistance. It’s one of the best way to get an authentic experience as well as support local community.

8:30 - Pick you from your address in Hoi An, we start the day with a warm-up cycling through the its picturesque countryside. We’ll pass the local rice fields, orchards and maybe also a market for a closer look to our everyday life. Arrival at at a village pier and now it’s time to take for a short ride in a traditional basket boat wandering through the channels of Nipa palms (aka Coco-palm) mangrove forest. Disembark from the ride, we proceed to our Thanh Dong – an organic farm run by the village seniors. Here you will be welcomed by local farmers who will happily share with you their story about this community-based project. Following an interesting conversation, you’ll be invited to join in their daily work, such as applying organic manure, making organic pesticides to control and prevent pests, cultivate the soil for planting and watering. On completion of the gardening, you will return to the farmers house and use the produce harvested from the organic vegetable garden to cook a Vietnamese lunch with our host. Enjoy lunch with the dishes you’ve cooked at a garden-setting table (weather permitting). Back to your hotel at around 13:00 by bicycle. Ends of our services.

5.00There’s nothing more I can say other than this has been the best experience I’ve had on an excursion in my life. For starters, karlaaa! What a warm knowledgeable and patient little lady. She is so funny too. She made the trip so worth it for me! And the food was absolutely delicious. Regardless of being a vegan or not the food was so tasty and savory and fresh ! I’m a vegan and to learn these recipes gives me so much Hope that this is going to be a delicious journey for me! I 100% recommend this excursion

5.00Amazing trip Despite the rain, which added to the adventure, we had a great time seeing the farming community around Hoi An, meeting some incredible people who welcomed us and shared their knowledge and skills. Kheiu was a treat. She has incredible knowledge of the area, and was a witty and thoughtful guide. Made our time extra special.

5.00My partner and I did the farm tour/cooking class with Khieu/Q and it was a highlight of our time in Hoi An. We biked to the market, had a brief row on the river in a coconut boat, toured the farm, then had a cooking class where we learned to make several Hoi An specialties. We love gardening and cooking so it was very cool tasting herbs from the farm and learning about their organic practices. The food came out great and was a lot of fun to prepare. The best part of the tour was definitely Q; she was a charismatic and knowledgeable guide who has grown up in Hoi An. We had lots of time to relax and talk with her and the other people on our tour and we learned a ton from her about modern life in Vietnam.
