The museum was supposed...

1.00The museum was supposed to close at 6 pm on Dec 23,2025 but they closed at 3 pm to accommodate private party. We flew from Kentucky to visit this place and could not visit many exhibits. Signs are inadequate to guide visitors.

3.00Great museum.but the lighting is awful. Made it very difficult to read the placards and when on tried to use the flashlight on my phone to read same, I was asked to turn it off even though I wasn’t using it as a flash photo of the actual exhibit. Also the height of the placards is very awkward-i guess it is set down at height for children to read, all though the information would be beyond most kids ability

3.00General access is wrong. If you want to see the ‘special’ exhibitions in the museum, you pay an extra entrance fee. In other words, you have to; once you have bought a ticket for the museum itself, you will then be back at (a number of) ticket offices. Museum itself is quite interesting and affordable (seniors $16 pp) but to now pay another $50 pp for all ‘specials’ is really going too far for me.

5.00My husband and I went to kill some time on our anniversary and chose to visit the museum and we're glad we did! We felt like kids on a field trip and we learned so much and had a great time! Highly recommend! We didn't take pics because we were in the moment.

4.00Parking is very expensive ($30) and there is no place map. For certain moments you get lost in there. You have to have well-defined routes

4.00I’ve been to many natural science museums across the country, including the ones in Denver and Philadelphia, but truthfully, I’ve never been more impressed than I was at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The exhibits were engaging and interesting on so many levels. The dinosaur hall is by far one of the largest and most comprehensive I’ve ever seen, with an incredible variety and depth that kept me exploring much longer than I expected. I was equally blown away by the gemstone collection, which is both extensive and beautifully curated. One highlight for me was the series of gemstone animals created by the artist Dreher—stunning works of craftsmanship that I’ll never forget. This museum sets a very high bar for what a natural science museum can be, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Houston. One downside is the cost of parking. If you are not a member and you park in the museum garage, expect a sticker shock of $30 to park.
