We invite you to participate in our Home lunch/dinner program, and to get a true taste of typical Hungarian food!
The home lunch program introduces Hungarian cuisine and turns it into a real personal travel experience. For lunch we will serve you a complete Hungarian meal, along with some good Hungarian wine!

Please note that we reserve the right, if necessary, to cancel the home lunch even the day of the lunch/dinner. Because of the personal nature of this activity things occasionally may come up that prevent the hosts being able to provide the lunch. However, this rarely happens and we do our best to provide the home meal!

Your tour starts with meeting your guide at your hotel. He will drive you to the home of the family. The lunch includes a soup, main course and dessert. Drinks and Hungarian wine are also part of the meal. Our soups: Hungarian goulash soup, Hungarian bean soup with smoked ham, Potato soup with cream and smoked ham, Chicken soup, Ragout soup flavoured with tarragon, Hungarian fish soup, Hungarian bean-goulash soup, Mushroom soup, Green pea soup Our main courses: Hungarian stuffed cabbage/Hungarian chicken Paprikas/Hungarian goulash stew/Pork medaillons Hungarian style served with "lecso" (onion, tomato, paprika ), Lecsó/ Hungarian sirloin steak with fried onions / Hungarian vadas/ Desserts: pancakes/cottage cheese dumplings/somlói sponge cake/creamy pastry/Hungarian strudel/Zserbó/chestnut cake/Apple pie/Hungarian seasonal cakes (Please inform us in time, so we can prepare vegetarian dishes and special meals if needed.) 5.00We enjoyed the dinner of pea soup, duck, potatoes, cabbage and wine. Nice couple didn't speak English but the driver was a friend and interpreter. Tour of the house. Long drive from Budapest to the suburb.

5.00The dinner was the highlight of our river cruise down the Danube. The food and wine were great, and the hosts were most gracious in inviting us into their home and preparing a special meal for us to enjoy with them. The hosts also went out of their way to prepare special food for my wife, a vegetarian, and for my daughter in law who is gluten intolerant. It felt like we were having a dinner with friends. We learned more about, and developed a new-found appreciation for, Hungarian culture. Do not miss this opportunity if you visit Budapest. Finally, the arrangements our hosts made to pick us up and return us to our cruise ship were flawless. A clear 10 out of 10.

5.00Wow! Want to feel like a true local? Book this! Driver/interpreter was amazing, had a family connection to our hosts which made it even more interesting hearing all of their history. We felt like their family by the end of it. Food was superb, made with love. I want to go back and just hang out on the couch with them!

4.00The host couple had a very young baby and honestly weren’t really ready to host tourists, again. We did have some interesting conversations but the mum looked a little frazzled and kept disappearing. I felt sorry for her as she had clearly been pressured into hosting, this night. Also, make sure that your dietary requirements are clearly communicated.
