On this tour, your Radventures guide will determine the best times to visit each of the following locations, in no particular order, based on weather conditions, big bus tour schedules & a few other factors that we as locals consider to ensure that you, as our guests, are getting the best and most authentic experience on the day. Adventuring outside deep in the heart of Banff National Park is a phenomenal experience in any season! That being said, this is a part of the world where weather can change in an instant and temperatures stay well below freezing for most of the winter. Please layer up and dress for being outside in freezing temperatures! Please also ensure you have warm, waterproof footwear on.
Abraham Lake
Just outside the eastern border of Banff National Park, the once-overlooked Abraham Lake has recently surged in popularity. This is due to the unique spectacle of methane bubbles trapped within its frozen surface. Nestled against the backdrop of the majestic Canadian Rockies, its awe-inspiring beauty has attracted many, elevating its fame. Our expert local guides come with the proficiency to pinpoint the best locations on the lake for observing and capturing these mesmerizing bubbles, ensuring you steer clear of the bustling crowds. They also prioritize your safety amidst this rugged landscape. Adding a cozy touch to the icy setting, we'll set up a fire pit and offer hot drinks at Abraham Lake for guests to gather and warm up. Expansive tour with a variety of sights

5.00Had a great all day tour seeing a variety of different sights, from elevated viewpoints to sublime, vast natural expanses. Our guide, Rae, was spirited, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area. Since we went in the spring, weather conditions meant we didn't get to see ice bubbles, but the journey was still worth it - we even got a close-up view of a big horn sheep herd lazily grazing in the middle of the road!

5.00Had a fabulous day exploring Icefields Parkway , Peyto Lake, Abraham Lake ice bubbles and Bow Lake. Simon was a great, well informed guide. Saw long horn sheep meandering on the parkway!

5.00the tour itself was EXCELLENT and tess was a wonderful tour guide. but if you book this, contact radventures directly to order lunch and rent equipment like snowshoes and skates. you cannot do these things through viator and you cannot do them after you've left. but there's no place on the tour to get lunch. either bring your own or order directly through the tour company.

5.00Every stop on our tour was fantastic and unique. Our tour guide Simon was excellent and provided lots of interesting information about the sites, the area, history, wildlife, etc. He was also so welcoming and friendly and made the trip really fun. Appreciated having good bathroom stops and multiple hot drinks along the way as well. Lunch was very tasty too.

5.00The excursion is great, our guide he was wonderful. The lake had plenty of bubbles and was nicely frozen over. All the stops were beautiful. My only complaint is it literally says in the viator page contact RAD for ice skate rentals. I literally did several days before and was met with a, oh you booked with viator we can’t rent you skates but if you cancel with viator and rebook with us you can then rent skates. So basically was being told cancel, rebook so we don’t have to pay Viator anything and then we’ll let you rent skates. Seemed like shady way for them to avoid paying Viator a booking fee, if you don’t honor what it says on Viator don’t be on here on the first place. I kept my Viator booking and simply walked on the lake. We considered renting in town and brining them ourselves but opted just to walk on the lake. Again let this take nothing away from the tour and the guide but the office is trying to avoid viator bookings.

5.00We had an absolutely brilliant day. Snowshoeing on Bow Lake in the morning sun was a real highlight. Charlie, our guide, was fantastic—he suggested we stop there first because the light was perfect, and he was right. We hadn’t actually booked the snowshoeing, but Charlie had already spoken to his boss about taking us since the conditions were ideal. We felt so lucky to have that experience, especially since we never would have guessed how much fun it would be. Our main reason for booking the tour was to visit Abraham Lake and see the famous ice bubbles, and that certainly didn’t disappoint. We were given spikes to walk safely on the ice, and Charlie made sure we reached the best spot where the bubbles were clearly visible. The hot chocolate and s’mores were such a thoughtful touch. Charlie’s knowledge of the region and the lakes added so much to the day. We truly had the best time, and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

5.00Friends Diane (Sam) Hordern, Carol Shannon & Sue Laroux went on this excursion today. We had the most wondrous & gorgeous & beautiful spectacular experience. Our guide was Charlie & he gave us an interesting & most informative tour of the Banff environs. I was very impressed with His friendliness & ability to cater for all his clients. 5.00Luba was our guide today. What a legend, he is such a nice human. Loves his job, experienced all around world on epic hikes and an ultra marathon races the trip was so much more informative, fun and relaxing because of him. Thanks Lubo. I wish you all the best.

5.00Fantastic trip to Abraham Lake, Bow and Peyto Lakes. Could not more highly recommend this trip. Made even better by the guide Charlie who whilst not only being a great guy had an incredible knowledge of the area.
