Canada de la Virgen

The best way to visit the Cañada de la Virgen is with an expert guide. Along the way, Albert will share his knowledge of cultures of the Bajio region, including the Otomi people and other Mesoamerican cultures. After visiting the Welcome Center, we will walk a total of approximately 3 kilometers (2 miles) together, taking the same path as the ancients. Albert will show you recent discoveries at the archaeological site and you’ll be able to climb to the top of the pyramid. Along the way, you will see the impressive landscapes as your mind goes on a journey. You will leave with a more thorough knowledge of this wonderful, historical site.

It was well organized. Israel is friendly and knows quite a bit though not in depth. The group was not prepared nor capable to do the long uphill to the site. I found it less than satisfying. I should have asked more questions about the guide and the group.

Israel was the best guide! Super knowledgeable about the archeology, and bonus that he knew a lot about indigenous food and drinks. Pickup was easy and on time. The hike is not difficult, but may be a lot if you are not active. Definitely recommend!

Pick up was at the noted location and very prompt. The driver was very friendly and courteous and was a great driver. He was also a tour guide and had a lot of knowledge about the pyramids and was patient and supportive of everyone. He’s not the one that the tour Says will be giving the tour- apparently that person passed away earlier this year. But we thoroughly enjoyed his tour.

Excellent, immersive experience at a well-preserved archaeological site. Unfortunately, our guide did not speak English, but there are signs all along the way in both Spanish and English that did a decent job of explaining the site and its various facets.

Mr Coffee was fabulous-we learned so much! Be advised - this is ALOT of uphill walking on uneven ground and the sun is strong! Sunscreen is a must.

It was definitely a cool experience. For the price, being Canadian in US dollars - felt steep for what it was. The guide was only okay. We were with multiple other groups and ours was definitely the slowest. There were folks on the tour that didn’t have capacity to keep up which slowed us all down. It was a lot of waiting upfront then during the actual tour it felt very rushed. Ultimately I’m glad I went, but not sure I’d recommend this guide.

Very small group ( 3 of us ) made this experience really pleasant and the pyramids are magnificent. Ignacio is extremely friendly and has a wealth of knowledge as well as a mischievous sense of humour.
If you want a deeper historical tour!

Israel was absolutely fantastic. He was so informative, polite, patient with us. Had a great sense of humor and was friendly to the entire group. I am so glad we did this tour and I recommended to all of my friends and family that are coming down to visit.

They cancelled our trip.. we decided to take an uber their thinking we could but tickets and just go on our own. But you can’t. You have to reserve your time. We ended paying over 70.0O dollars just for transportation and couldn’t get tickets.

Had a great tour with our wonderful guide Horatio. He arrived a couple of minutes early at the designated meeting point, provided bottled water and gave us a lot of information about San Miguel on the way out and back. The site itself is amazing - out in the middle of nowhere and well-protected by staff and fencing from anyone that would be up to no good. The pyramid is surprisingly large and you're allowed to walk all the way up to the top. I recommend it for a four or five hour day trip from San Miguel. Wear a hat, it's sunny out there!
