From professional athletes to casual sports enthusiasts, the Imperial Palace is known as the "holy land" of runners in Japan.
This is a fun run-and-walk tour with a delightful and friendly Imperial Palace Run Geek Guide who will not only give you a sightseeing guide of the Imperial Palace, but also some interesting Imperial Palace run "trivia" for runners to know!
This tour is conducted in Japanese and simple English, so even those who are not fluent in Japanese can participate.

Running clothes, shoes, and towels are available for rent for a fee.
Participants must be at least 12 years old.
A basic level of fitness is required, as the tour involves approximately 6 km of running and walking (at a slow pace).
The course and tour content may be subject to change depending on weather conditions and transportation circumstances on the day.
Please take appropriate measures against heat or cold at your own discretion (e.g., wearing a cap and sunglasses in summer, or a jacket and gloves in winter is recommended).
The JOGLIS facility usage fee is included; therefore, no refunds will be provided even if you choose not to use the lockers or showers.
While the guide will prioritize your safety, participants are responsible for managing their own physical condition and personal belongings.

After a briefing on the history of the Imperial Palace and the rules of the Imperial Palace Run at JOGLIS, we set off for the Imperial Palace Run! If you wish to use the changing lockers and showers at JOGLIS, an additional 1,500 yen will be charged.
Hanzo-mon Gate
The running tour will start from Hanzomon, one of the entrances to the Imperial Palace. You can see the National Theatre and the Diet Building as you descend Miyake-zaka, said to be the most beautiful slope in Tokyo. (No tours will be provided. We will view a part of the outside)

5.00This is an easy, fun run and a great introduction to running culture in Japan. Yuko is a fantastic guide! She mixes in trivia, history, and fun facts throughout the run. I did the run solo. There were three other runners in the group. In-between historical facts, we discussed shoes, marathons, running in winter vs. running summer, and everything running. This was my first trip to Japan. The meeting location was easy to get to and it was a lot of fun. Highly recommend this tour!

5.00The guide happily taught me what I didn't know about Tokyo. It was especially interesting to see the poses in front of Tokyo Station and climbing stone walls! We enjoyed going around the Imperial Palace with people from the USA 🇺🇸 and Singapore 🇸🇬 who participated with us, and forgot the cold weather

5.00皇居を走ったことはあったけれど、時計塔の左から中に歩いて行くとお馬さんに出会えたり、白バイ隊員の練習を見たり、いつもは入ったことのない東御苑の中からお城の中に入っていき、当時のお侍さんたちや江戸の人々に想いを馳せることが出来る貴重な体験でした。皇居周りにこれだけお世話になっていながら、歴史を知らないのはもったいない！外国人の方に伝えるためにも自国の歴史をもっともっと深めたい、というきっかけをくださったツアーガイドさんありがとう！ I've rnning around the Imperial Palace so many times, but walking inside from the left of the clock tower allowed me to meet horses, watch police motorcycle officers practice, and enter the castle from the East Gardens, which I've never been to before. It was a valuable experience that allowed me to think about the samurai and people of Edo at that time. It's a shame that I don't know the history even though I've been so well taken care of around the Imperial Palace! Thank you to the tour guide for giving me the opportunity to learn more about my own country's history so that I can share it with foreigners! I strongly recommend this tour both Japanese and foreigners.

5.00It was my first time participating. He was a very cheerful and friendly person, and he was kind enough to participate alone. He has also carefully researched how the history of the Imperial Palace connects to the present day, and it was a great pleasure to learn about the hidden gems of the Imperial Palace East Gardens. In addition to the history, you can hear a variety of stories such as important manners for Imperial Palace orchids and trivia about the Imperial Palace. 5.00I've always run around the Imperial Palace, but I've never been inside or thought deeply about its history, so this was a great opportunity to learn more about it. Also, since I wasn't just running, I was walking too, so the time flew by! It was a lot of fun!

5.00This was my first time running around the Imperial Palace. Coach Yuko Suzuki taught me everything from etiquette to history and running in a fun way, so even though I was a beginner and participated alone, I had no worries at all and was able to spend a fulfilling time in no time!

5.00I joined Yuko's tour, and the tour was awesome! I could learn a lot about Imperial Palace. Also what made this tour special is Yuko, our tour guide's passion! She was super knowledgeable and open to any kind of questions, and love running! Her passion motivate me so much, and it was great meeting and talking with her. Try this tour, and you would feel as if you lived in Tokyo, and start the day with fun friends! After running, you can use shower room, which make it possible for you to start the perfect day! 5.00Enjoyed running and walking around the Palace on a cool and sunny day Yuko, the guide on that day, kindly, friendly and passionately introduced and talked about history and secret of running course and Edo Castle - learned a lot Niju-bashi, East Garden, a great polititian of Edo Government, buildings around the Palace, etc. Easy to run; so slowly and often walikng; good for various generations!
