National Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Albania
The Albanian Philharmonic is established in 1950 part of which are the choir, the symphony orchestra, the opera singers, the ballet troupe, and the conductor. The Philharmonic developed its activity in the building where today is the National Theatre. The development of arts and culture in the country brought the necessity of creating the State Conservatory, the first vocational school that provides the largest musical institution in the country. National Theatre of Opera and Ballet is placed on the building of the Palace of Culture in 1966, where even today continues his activity. National Theatre of Opera and Ballet is a temple of Albanian and International cultivated music. It is the only national institution of this kind that can be compared with the best theatres of Balkan and wider, in the artistic and quality level. It has produced generations of artists, who have made epochs on the Albanian and International stage.
Skanderbeg Statue
The Skanderbeg Square is the main plaza in the center of Tirana, Albania. The square is named after the Albanian national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu. The total area is about 40,000 square meters. The Skanderbeg Monument dominates the square. The city plan for Tirana was initially designed by Armando Brasini in 1925 and continued by Florestano Di Fausto in a Neo-Renaissance style with articulate angular solutions and giant order fascias. Following the Italian invasion of Albania, the master plan was updated in 1939 by Gherardo Bosio. Many buildings including the Tirana International Hotel, the Palace of Culture, the National Opera, the National Library, the National Bank, the Ethem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, the City Hall, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Energy, and the National Historical Museum are situated at the square.

My tour guide, Era, was friendly and clearly knowledgeable. She was fantastic and very informative on the history of Albania and Tirana. I had a walking tour earlier, too, but Era’s tour is very different, the street culture and murals were unique! A very interesting 2 hour tour of the main sites of Tirana. It was such a private tour, and I appreciated that Era proceeded the tour with me (only me, yes, I know, so VIP!) - great pace, great overview of the city, and excellent company. Highly recommended!

It was a great experience, a pleasant walk through Tirana and Eduart (our guide) really made a difference. The passion with which he tells the story of his country is engaging, interesting, brilliant and pleasant, it accompanied us for hours and made us feel like old and dear friends. Highly recommended :) Thanks Eduart Ilaria

Eduadrt, the tour guide, was just perfect! He conveyed to us all his passion in introducing us not only to the city but above all to the historical, political and socio-cultural context. Kind and attentive to every detail. I really recommend using this operator for a city tour that goes beyond a simple tour, an "experience". Thank you! Paul

This is great way to get acclimated to Tirana. The tour covers most of the tourist spots in the downtown area. It takes a couple of hours and well worth it. Our guide, Eri, had some great information regarding the past history of the country. This is a free tour but the guides work for tips. Put this on your to do list if traveling for the first time to Tirana.

Tourguide Eduart didn’t show up. We’ve been there from 2:55 till 3:10pm. Also talked to other people there to ask if we’re maybe at the wrong place but they said it’s often that Tourguides don’t show up when you paid in advance. Eduart even confirmed the booking for me and my 6 friends the day before. Very disappointing when you only have 1 day in Tirana. Money is gone as well. Also, why is it called free walking tour when you have to pay for it?

Without doubt one of the best guided tour I experienced! Upon arrival at the meeting place we were warmly welcomed by Eduard, that took care of the group in a very friendly way for the entire tour. We had the chance to get introduced to the main highlights of the city center and we were positively surprised by the beauty and the liveliness of Tirana. I specially got fascinated by Blloku area and its transformation from political headquarter during communism time to trendy nightlife zone. Eduard, highly motivated guide (recommendable!), competently presented to us a great overview of Albanian history and present situation. He has always been very prompt in answering questions and curiosity. He also shared with us many recommendations on how to best spend our time in Albania, as well as fantastic culinary tips. I can't do anything but recommend this tour to discover and enjoy this wonderful city and its charms.
