Luss
Our first stop is the charming conservation village of Luss, set on the famous bonnie banks of Loch Lomond within Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Take time to stretch your legs, enjoy morning refreshments and explore this picturesque Highland village, known for its quaint cottages, flower-lined streets and peaceful lochside setting. With beautiful views across the water and plenty of photo opportunities, Luss offers a relaxing and scenic introduction to your journey into the Scottish Highlands.
Glencoe
Travelling north, we cross the wild and remote expanse of Rannoch Moor before arriving in the dramatic valley of Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most famous and atmospheric landscapes. Surrounded by towering peaks and sweeping Highland scenery, this short stop is the perfect chance to stretch your legs, take in the views and capture memorable photographs. Your driver-guide will also share the haunting story of the Glencoe Massacre, adding another layer to this unforgettable location.
Glencoe Visitor Centre
We stop at the Glencoe Visitor Centre for lunch, where you can relax and take in the spectacular Highland surroundings. This is also a great opportunity to learn more about Glencoe’s dramatic landscape, local wildlife and the story of the Glencoe Massacre of 1692, one of the most significant events in Highland history. Surrounded by some of Scotland’s most iconic scenery, it is the perfect place to pause and refuel before continuing your journey.
Fort William
Continuing through the Highlands, we pass through Fort William, a popular Highland town nestled at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain. Known as the outdoor capital of the UK, Fort William sits in a spectacular setting surrounded by mountains and lochs, and marks an important gateway on our journey towards the west coast and the Road to the Isles.
Glenfinnan Viaduct
The impressive arches of the Glenfinnan Viaduct sweep across the Highland landscape and have become famous around the world as the route of the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter films. During our stop, you’ll have time to walk up to the viewpoint for spectacular views over the viaduct and surrounding glen, as well as across Loch Shiel. At ground level stands the Glenfinnan Monument, which commemorates the Jacobites who fought for Bonnie Prince Charlie after he raised his standard here in 1745. This is one of the most scenic and historically significant stops of the day.
As we continue west, we travel through the beautiful Highland glens of Clunie, Garry and Shiel, surrounded by ever-changing mountain scenery. We stop for photos overlooking the striking Five Sisters of Kintail, one of the most famous mountain ridges in the Highlands. This short scenic stop offers sweeping views and a wonderful chance to capture another classic Highland landscape.
Isle of Skye
Continuing on, we follow the shores of Loch Duich before crossing the Skye Bridge onto the magical Isle of Skye. Arriving on the island is a special moment, as the scenery shifts from Highland glens to dramatic coastal landscapes and rugged mountain views. We then make our way to our overnight accommodation, where you can relax after a spectacular first day and look forward to a full day exploring Skye.
Isle of Skye
This morning we set out to explore the Isle of Skye, with your driver-guide shaping the route to make the most of the day and the island’s ever-changing weather. As we travel through Skye’s dramatic landscapes, you’ll experience a mix of rugged mountains, sweeping coastal views, fascinating geology and legendary folklore, with a day packed full of some of the island’s most iconic sights.
Sligachan Old Bridge
We stop at the historic Sligachan Old Bridge, one of Skye’s most iconic and picturesque locations. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Black Cuillin mountains, this beautiful stone bridge is a favourite spot for photographs and a wonderful place to pause and take in the island’s wild scenery.
Fairy Pools
One of Skye’s most famous natural attractions, the Fairy Pools lie beneath the dramatic Black Cuillin mountains near Glenbrittle. These crystal-clear blue pools and waterfalls are among the island’s most magical sights and are a highlight for photographers, walkers and nature lovers alike. You’ll have time to enjoy the walk out to the pools, take in the spectacular mountain scenery and capture some unforgettable views. The walk includes uneven ground, but the scenery and atmosphere make it well worth the effort.
Portree
We stop in Portree, Skye’s colourful harbour town and cultural heart, where you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch and explore at your own pace. Stroll along the waterfront, browse local shops, or simply relax in one of the town’s cafés or restaurants while taking in the harbour views. This is a great chance to soak up the atmosphere of Skye’s main town and enjoy a break in one of the island’s most picturesque settings.
Fairy Glen
Hidden among Skye’s rolling hills, the Fairy Glen is a small but enchanting landscape of grassy knolls, unusual rock formations and winding paths. Its miniature, otherworldly appearance has inspired legends and folklore, making it one of the island’s most unusual and atmospheric spots. This short stop is perfect for stretching your legs, taking photos and experiencing another side of Skye’s unique beauty.
Quiraing
The Quiraing is one of Skye’s most spectacular landscapes, famous for its dramatic cliffs, pinnacles and sweeping views across the Trotternish Peninsula. Created by an ancient landslip, this extraordinary scenery is one of the island’s true geological wonders. During our stop, you’ll have time to admire the panoramic views, take photographs and appreciate one of the most breathtaking locations in the Scottish Highlands.
Kilt Rock
We also stop at Kilt Rock, where towering basalt cliffs resemble the pleats of a kilt and create one of Skye’s most distinctive coastal landmarks. From the viewpoint, you can enjoy spectacular sea views and watch Mealt Falls cascade over the cliff edge into the Sound of Raasay below.
The Old Man of Storr
We pause for photos at the Old Man of Storr, one of Skye’s most recognisable and most photographed landmarks. Rising dramatically from the landscape, this iconic rock formation has become a symbol of the island and offers a striking introduction to the dramatic scenery of the Trotternish Peninsula.
Isle of Skye
After stopping for photos at the iconic Old Man of Storr, we begin our journey back to our overnight accommodation, travelling once more through Skye’s rugged island landscapes. As the day draws to a close, there is time to reflect on a memorable day of mountain views, coastal landmarks, folklore and natural beauty before relaxing for the evening.
Isle of Skye
Leaving the Isle of Skye behind, we cross the Skye Bridge back to the mainland and continue through some of the Highlands’ most beautiful scenery. As we travel east, lochs, mountains and glens accompany us on the next stage of the journey, with more iconic Scottish landscapes still to come.
Eilean Donan Castle
Our first stop of the day is Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most photographed and recognisable landmarks. Set on a small island where three sea lochs meet, this iconic castle is famous for its breathtaking setting and appearances in films including Highlander and James Bond: The World Is Not Enough. You’ll have the chance to admire this dramatic historic site from the surrounding viewpoints, take photographs, or choose to explore the castle itself.
Fort Augustus
We continue to Fort Augustus, a charming Highland village at the southern tip of Loch Ness. Here you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch, explore the village, browse local shops and stroll beside the Caledonian Canal, where you can often watch boats passing through the locks. With its relaxed atmosphere and lochside setting, Fort Augustus is the perfect place to pause and soak up the Highland surroundings.
Loch Ness
While in Fort Augustus, you may choose to join an optional Loch Ness cruise and experience Scotland’s most famous loch from the water. With sweeping views and stories of the myths and mysteries that surround Loch Ness, it is a memorable way to enjoy this legendary location. Those who prefer not to take the cruise can spend more time exploring Fort Augustus, visiting local shops and cafés, or relaxing beside the Caledonian Canal as boats pass through the locks.
As we continue south through the Highlands, we make a final stop in Perthshire for an early evening refreshment break. This gives you the chance to stretch your legs, relax and reflect on the incredible landscapes and experiences of the past three days before the final part of the journey back to Glasgow
Glasgow
Travelling south via Edinburgh, we drop off passengers who are ending their tour in the city before continuing onwards to Glasgow. After three days of iconic landscapes, Highland history and island scenery, you’ll return with lasting memories of an extraordinary journey through Scotland.

Technically we did a 4 day option tour with them and it also being my first overnight tour ever, it was amazing all around. From the organizing, to the accommodation chosen, the communication(both prior and during the tour) and the guide Billy!! We also got very lucky with weather the whole time we were there. Yes, the only con to tours is that you will not always have enough time to eat, shop and explore so you must choose wisely depending on where you are but being able to have someone else do the driving and keep us entertained the whole trip was pretty cool. We also did get lucky that our group only had 7 of us and made the experience even better but even with its max of 16 wouldn’t have been so bad.

Truly a 5 star experience! Our group was hosted by Colin, who had an extensive knowledge of Scottish history coupled with great stories and humor. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and the overall experience was absolutely lovely! We had wonderful hosts at our B&B as well and were made to feel like family. Do not miss this experience!

I still can't get over what an amazing experience this was. It is 1000% worth the money. Each day of the 3 day trip was jammed packed with the most amazing sights Ive ever seen. Our tour guide, Billy, was so invested in our having a good experience. Due to some filming in the area, one or two spots were closed...but Billy made sure to take us to some extra spots to make up for it. He made sure the vibe was position the whole time. I felt so relaxed knowing someone else was in charge of the itinerary and the schedule. I would book this tour company again in a heartbeat.

What an incredible experience! It's hard to believe the number of incredible sights we saw in just three days. Billy was an incredible guide, so friendly and knowledgeable, and made sure that we were able to squeeze every last drop from this trip. I can't pick a favorite moment because it was all so amazing.

Took the three-day tour with our guide, Alan, who was magnificent. The driver greeted us at the Buchanan Street Bus Station in Glasgow in a full kilt (which he wore the entire time, to everyone's delight). Discover Scotland uses a smaller Mercedes bus because many of the roads on Skye are still single lane roads (yes, you read that right). So, the smaller bus allows for greater mobility and getting in and out of places that big busses simply can't drive to. That said, I think that's what makes Skye so magical: it really hasn't been developed and it feels like a beautiful, magical place still. The bus was air-conditioned, and it made frequent bathroom/water/food stops. Alan (the driver/guide) gave just enough information without being too talkative--he struck a perfect balance of information and letting us rest between sites. Do note there is not enough space in the trunk for large suitcases, so you will want to arrange to have your bagged stored, or you can rent a luggage storage space at one of the train stations if you have a big suitcase. I feel like I had an absolutely jammed-packed magical experience with Discover Scotland, and I can't wait to come back to Skye again!

We had the most amazing time on th Highlands and Skye tour! Jerry was a great guide and gave us a ton of background and context on the history of Scotland and the specific places we visited. The tour covered a lot of ground that we definitely wouldn't have been able to cover alone, allowing us to see all the major sights of the Highlands and Skye within just 3 days. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to see a cross-section of Scotland's natural beauty.

This tour was really wonderful! It was great being with a smaller group and getting to know everyone over the three days, and the sites we visited were gorgeous and interesting historically. Our B&B on Skye was lovely, and the proprietor was very attentive. She took great care of us since we were with Discover Scotland and told us about how much she enjoys everyone who works for the company. Our guide/driver John was wonderful, he had a great sense of humor and shared so much information with us about Scotland and the history of the Highlands. He really took every opportunity to share more with us about Scottish history and culture. At one point, I jokingly asked him (because we were listening to a Scottish cover of an Australian song) if there was a cover of an American song, and he ended up telling us about a Highlands folk dance called America and the history behind it, and played us a song about it. I mean, it doesn't get more impressive than that!

This tour was perfect for maximizing the sites of the Highlands within a few days. In the future, I hope to always have a tour guide like Stuart, who trekked us high and low to give us the best experience. You can tell he really cares about his group and loves his job, and there is truly no one better than him to do it. I can’t wait for my next trip, and I hope I will have a tour guide just as good next time!
