• Wonderful and Amazing Bursa and Iznik Historical and Cultural Tour

  My wife and I went on this tour on May 11th, 2026. This tour operated by Abracadabra tour operator is an amazing tour and is rich in its depth for experiencing the history , culture, architecture, art, and culture of the Byzantines, Seljuk and Ottoman empires. We also need to highlight that our tour guide Asuman Candir made the tour a very enjoyable and amazing experience. We were impressed by Asuman's depth of knowledge about Iznik and Bursa, about the three civilizations and how the various past civilizations with their innovations shaped various architectures (such as Churches, Mosques, fortifications, pottery, tiles, palaces etc). She is a great guide with a warm personality, courteous, with depth of knowledge, and at the same time making sure that we get a positive experience of these two historically significant cities. We are very happy that we decided to do this tour and are very appreciative that we had Asuman as our tour guide. We highly recommend for anyone visiting Istanbul to experience this unique tour with Abracadabra as the tour operator and also request to have Asuman as the tour guide. We are also appreciative of Mr. Yousuf of Abracadabra for all his efforts in making this tour happen and to handle all the logistics in an admirable fashion. FYI the drive to Iznik and Bursa are also wonderful. A bit more about the tour: This is a tour that started in 2026. When I was planning our trip to Turkey, the Bursa and Iznik Historical and cultural tour on TripAdvisor caught my eye; I was very interested in the tour as we wanted to experience being in these historically important places. Bursa and Iznik (Nicaea), at various times was the capital of Byzantines and Ottomans and holds significant religious, historical, artistic and cultural significance for the great Byzantine, Seljuks and Ottoman empires. I contacted the tour operator Abracadabra directly to get more information and Mr. Yousuf of Abracadabra was extremely helpful and mentioned he had worked for a few years to develop this amazing and unique tour (other tours are either Bursa or Iznik and do not go into the historical and cultural depth) and that I would love it. I booked it and my wife and I experienced this amazng tour on May 11th, 2026. It would be good experience for Anyone visiting Istanbul to set aside a day and book the Bursa and iznik Historical and Cultural tour with Abracadabra (you can contact Mr. Yousuf of Abracadabra as he is extremely helpful) as the tour operator (TripAdvisor has this tour in the list of tours) and don't forget to request Asuman Candir as the tour operator as she is an excellent tour guide (fYI she has an undergraduate degree in Tourism).

  A long day but a great day. Perfect for anyone interested in Christian, Byzantine and/or Ottoman history and with local culture and food as well.

  This was an absolutely fantastic day. Our guide, Asuman was really welcoming, organised and knowledgeable. The van we were in was really comfortable and lunch was delicious. It's incredible how many things we packed into one day! This is the perfect day trip for anyone wanting to learn about both early Christian history and Ottoman history and see some amazing mosques. It's definitely a bit nerdy but if you like that it's a fantastic option. My only critique would be that the organisation before the tour was a bit of a mess. I understand this is a new tour the company is offering and there will inevitably be growing pains, but despite multiple messages asking for info on the pickup arrangements I wasn't told what time we would be collected from our hotel in the morning until after 10pm the night before which had me pretty stressed out.   Interesting and informative trip, Nizam is an excellent guide. I recommend traveling with the agency Abracadabra, they do everything they promise in the program.

  Had a great experience with this package! Everything was well arranged and smooth throughout the trip. The tour guide was extremely helpful, friendly, and explained everything clearly, which made the journey much more enjoyable and stress-free. • History of Nicaea/İznik and Bursa

  My brother and I were honoured to be the first customers of this tour given by Yusef and Sabit; therefore, it was just us, so we were very lucky. Yusef was the driver and Sabit was the guide. It was a packed day where we stopped at ancient Roman and Byzantine sites and the Ruins of St. Neophytos Basilica with a small 'museum' with some interesting relics. Sabit is very knowledgeable about the history and religious significance of those sites, including the little Hagia Sophia, Basilica ruins, palace ruins, and ancient city walls. Although I didn't appreciate the 'joke' about women and myself being untrustworthy... but hope it was in the spirit of 'fun' over anything else. We then stopped off at an old medresesi, which is now a tile workshop area, and saw the artists undertaking their crafts. Then we went to Bursa, the old Ottoman capital, where we had a delicious, full lunch of soup starter, Bursa kebab, and flan for dessert; the restaurant they selected was great because it had wonderful décor and amazing views of the city. We also appreciated that our guides were fasting during Ramadan yet still made provisions for our lunch. We then visited an old Ottoman bath house, tombs of Ottoman founding fathers, the Grand Mosque, and the Green Mosque before stopping off at Tophane Square and Koza Han to wander around the silk market for a short while. We skipped the cable car tour, which was a shame, but the day was already jam-packed with visits to various sites and it would have been too long a day for everyone to include the cable car; I think that if you want to prioritise the cable car, it will have to be at the expense of other activities. But it's great that it is an option. Overall, I'd give this tour 5 stars and I would definitely recommend, as the guides were highly knowledgeable and you get to see and understand more of Turkey's history, especially for those interested in such history. Thank you both!
