Jabal Shams is Oman’s highest peak, and at around 10,000 feet (or 3,000 meters) it makes a cool contrast to the baking coast. The regular road runs out about two-thirds the way up, so from there on in it’s 4-wheel-drive or, for the adventurous, hiking. Either way you’ll have stunning views of Wadi Nakhr, a dramatic canyon whose sheer walls drop down to a valley floor of tiny villages and date palm plantations. Colorful rugs made using goat hair and natural dyes are a specialty of the region. There are also a number of eerie village ruins which testify to the difficulty of living in this fascinating yet challenging area. Jebel Shams can be accessed on a long day trip from Muscat, but a well-equipped campsite makes it a great place to stay over and enjoy the serenity of this remote area. First we have to thanks a lot to Muscat Advanced Tourism, and our guide Mr Hamdan . Jabal Al-Akhdar is part of the Hajar Mountains & it is located in Governorate of Dakhiliyah. The journey from Muscat to Al Jabal Al-Akhdar takes about two hours. Our guide have a four-wheel drive vehicle this only allow you to continue the road. .Spread across the mountain are many Omani villages. the people there have dug terraces in some parts of the mountain for growing crops. Jabal Al-Akhdar produces a variety of fruits and flowers, pomegranates, peaches, apricots, almonds, walnuts, roses that can not grow anywhere else in the Arabian Gulf, except Jabal Al-Akhdar as a result of unique weather. it is great for hiking & sightseeing because the height of Jabal Al-Akhdar around 3000 meters hope to all to visit with Muscat Advanced Tourism you really will keep a great memory.
