Enjoy the calligraphy experience of traditional Japanese culture.
With 27 years of experience as a calligraphy instructor, I will provide you with easy-to-understand and detailed instruction.
We will talk about Japanese letters, explain how to use calligraphy tools, and teach you the basics of how to use a brush. Then, students choose one of the 16 kanji that are popular overseas, practice it, and write it on a Japanese board. Sign your name, place it in a special art frame, and your original work of art is complete. You can take it home, so please display it at home. At the end, enjoy green tea and Japanese sweets, and take a commemorative photo. It will be a wonderful memory for you.
The event will be held on the first floor of a hotel in Shinsaibashi, the center of Osaka. It's very convenient, just 1 minute walk from the subway station.

Japanese calligraphy is a traditional art that lasts over a thousand years. Also, it is a wonderful character art in which the mind appears. Why don’t you concentrate your mind and experience the Japanese calligraphy peacefully? Then you can take home your own original work which you have completed by yourself. Steps of Experience Course Step 1, the story of Japanese culture calligraphy Step 2, How to use calligraphy tools Step 3, Host shows demonstration by calligraphy brush usage Step 4, Guests would choose their favorite Kanji prepared from popular Kanji samples. Step 5, Guests start experience treating the calligraphy brush. Step 6, the guest have completed their own original art work at the end. (special board 242 × 273 mm) Step 7, To finish, setting on your art work into the display case as a hanging scroll of calligraphy. It is foldable and good for portable. I booked this class for my husband and I to do while in Osaka because when I was in elementary school, my school brought in a Japanese calligraphy artist to teach in my art class :) My husband said this was his favorite activity of all that we did while on our 2.5 week honeymoon across Japan!! 5.00Ryusho was FANTASTIC!! His work is amazing and a great teacher!! Very patient and helpful! It was such a fun afternoon and I loved doing something so traditional in Japan. Even better when you are being taught by a professional and passionate man like Ryusho. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to learn the beautiful art of calligraphy! Definitely recommend doing this!

5.00I had a wonderful time trying calligraphy with a very passionate and knowledgable teacher ! I could practice many times the kanji on Japanese paper before making my final work. The teacher was really helpful and his English is really good ! I would totally recommend this workshop !
