This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in Fiordland National Park - far from the crowds found elsewhere. Fiordland Jet is is the only scenic commercial operator on these waterways, which means guests can enjoy an authentic kiwi experience in a small, personalized group tour.
As a locally owned and operated business, we are taking tourism back to what it use to be - personal - and invite you to explore our beautiful home as one of the family. No rushing. No lines. Just wide open spaces and jaw dropping scenery.
This is not the typical jet boat 'ride' - this is a journey - time to explore and learn about this amazing area and its rich history all while having heaps of FUN!

Begin your tour at our office on the Lakefront of Te Anau with plenty of free parking and secure storage. Get fitted for a spray coat, life jacket and if needed any cold weather gear (hats, gloves, blanket). Next take a short ride through Southland farms to the Queens Reach Boat Ramp where you'll board the boat with ease thanks to convenient ramps. After a short safety brief it's time to hit the water! Travel down the Upper Waiau River with crisp Fiordland air rushing by, crystal-clear waters below and stunning views all around. Pause along the way to learn about the area and it's rich history, have some laughs, spot trout swimming just off the boat, re-imagine Lord of the Rings from 3 film locations and even listen to native birds as your driver quiets the engine for a spell. Enjoy plenty of photo opportunities plus high-speeds and spins - which are great fun for all! Emerge onto Lake Manapouri and embrace true silence while surrounded by towering mountains and a view that will leave you speechless. Disembark into the National Park for a short guided nature stroll among native flora and fauna. Jump back in the boat and head back up river for more FUN!

5.00Really enjoyed my experience on Fiordland Jet as part of our AAT Kings Southern Spectacular Guided Holiday. The team are so friendly and passionate about all they do - and I have to give special props to our jet boat captain Alex who was an absolute joy, and a true Kiwi legend with her humour and enthusiasm really helping to cement this as my favourite experience on the water of our whole trip. LOTR fans will delight in the scenes along the Waiau River, with Alex helpfully showing pics from the movies at the exact locations we stop so you can place things easily. And getting out to Lake Manapouri, seeing the islands and learning of the great conservation work is being done to eridicate predators of native species such as kiwi was a real delight. A must-do for all visitors to Te Anau!

5.00Awesome adventure with great knowledgeable guides and staff. Zane drove the boat and pointed out several filming locations from lord of the rings. We also did a nature walk on the beach and learned about the area. We learned a lot and had a great time doing the boat 360 turns as well. Amy and Jade were very friendly and helpful and made the trip more enjoyable. Amy kept us informed and laughing on the drive over. It’s about a 10 minute drive from the place in town that they drive you to for the boat launch. We also had a couple that got off at the beach half way through and hiked backed the Kepler track if you are interested in a combo they do that as well.

5.00Alex (Hoover) our guide was fantastic. Very skillful jet boat driver and knowledgeable about the bush. Lots of fun and excitement - she did a great job. Amy was great too. A very worthwhile activity to do when you're in Te Anau.

5.00Can’t thank the team enough for a special couple of hours. Jade is a fabulous host and we felt completely safe as she expertly whirled the boat. More importantly she was very informative and has such a lovely laid back manner. We were blessed with bank to mountain sunshine but I’m pretty confident if it had been chucking down rain she would have still made it a great experience. Thanks too to Lucy for warming us up on the short bus ride to the launch point.

5.00My dad and I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing this amazing activity! I’d never been on a jet boat trip before, but I had a rough idea of what to expect from what I’d seen online — but this completely exceeded my expectations. It’s the perfect balance between breathtaking sightseeing and an adrenaline-filled thrill ride. Alex, our skipper, was incredible. She made us feel so at ease and explained all the different scenery along the way. From the moment we arrived at their office, everything was sorted for us — coats, rain jackets, gloves, sunglasses, neck warmers, blankets — you name it. We were so warm and cosy, and everything was so neatly organised. As soon as we hopped in the van, Amy made the whole experience even better with her amazing explanations, fun facts, and jokes. The whole thing was seamless from start to finish. Even my dad, who usually doesn’t say much, had the best time and was genuinely so happy with the whole experience. We had an absolute blast, and I would 10000% recommend this to anyone!
