It’s a 2.5-3 hour drive from Tacloban to the boat docks be prepared for rough roads with potholes and torn up concrete up a corkscrew mountain. Arrived at 6 am left the hotel around 3am but the boats don’t departs until closer to 8 am. You sign in basic information and foreigners must pay a 1,000 pesos environment fee and Filipinos pay a 300 pesos environment fee. A small snack shop in the launch building has snacks and drinks or bring your own food if your tour doesn’t include your lunch. There are no vendors on the island. Left the dock around 7:45 am arrived on the island 8:50 am about an hour boat ride. The boat leaves the island at 2pm you have 5 hours to enjoy the beach. We rented a kubo hut for our rest area out of the sun and to store our lunch provided by the tour company. We had a tour guide named Weng, but she’s more of a facilitator as this isn’t a city tour where you need a guide to explain various sites. She brought the lunch and drinks, coordinated payments for the Kubo, and a helped us procure few Buko juice young coconuts we had the staff get for us from the coconut trees on the island. She was very helpful. She didn’t speak English but my wife is Filipina so it was not an issue for us. If you had an all English speaking party it would be a point to emphasize with this tour operator to request an English speaking guide as it’s listed on their site they speak English. The island itself is gorgeous as pictured very relaxing. Had some people playing model or social media influencer taking endless videos and selfies and even drone footage. Typical GEN Z behavior but it didn’t bother us because it’s a nice sized island and they are so self absorbed they don’t bother other people. One side of the island is rocky and not recommended to swim there. The white beaches have a swimming area and a snorkeling area and the peninsula of white sand where the sandbar ends you can’t swim there because of the strong currents. The boat crew will go over all of this in a safety briefing before you launch. It’s a beautiful place to relax for 1/2 a day. The boat ride we observed a pod of dolphins, sea turtle and flying fish. Was nice to explore nature and swim in blue crystal clear water, walk on white sand beach and reconnect with nature. If you’re so inclined you can book an overnight stay camping on the island.

lDisappointed that we were not able to experience the sandbar during our visit. But the worst experienced was no proper shower room and no water at the comfort rooms in the tourism office at Palompon
