Time and time again the Best of Wildlife tour impresses those who choose to take part. A half day, afternoon tour, we travel at the best time of the day to see some of Australia’s unique animals in the wild.

The tour begins with pickup at your accommodation before a half hour to 40-minute journey through the rural surrounds of Canberra to the Deep Space Tracking Station at Tidbinbilla. Here you’ll learn about the significant role played by our telescopes in the Apollo missions and first moon landing as well as current day deep space tracking.

From the Deep Space Tracking Station, we’ll travel the short distance to the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve where some of Australia’s most iconic native animals living in the wild. Through the reserve we’ll hopefully witness and get close to:

Kangaroos

Wallabies

Koalas

Platypus

Colourful parrots and other birds

Emus

After hopefully spotting platypus towards the end of the tour, you’ll enjoy the 30-40 minute tour back into your accommodation.

    Great opportunity to see Australian animals and plants in the bush. Neil (our guide) was knowledgeable about history and stories from the past. He knew where to bring us to see kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, kookaburras, platypus and emus. We saw several varieties of birds and some koalas too. Our children also thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I highly recommend this tour.

    Great way to see the countryside around Canberra and be in a comfortable vehicle with a small group. Visitors to Australia will especially love seeing kangaroos so close and koalas. I loved seeing a platypus in the wild. Interesting to see and hear about the space programme

    I planed my stay in canberra months before because of the wildlife tour offered by the company. I even received a confirmation the day before. I waited for 40min at the Pick up place and nobody came. I called them but they did not answer. I sent messages with the viators platform from where i booked it, and they also did not answer. They only answered when i asked viator support for help, saying they cancelled the tour without even telling me. They said they would refund the cost of the tour, but what about the 2 nights at the hotel i booked only because of this tour? What about the time i invested on this that i could enjoy many other tours? They even made me wait an hour for them because they didnt even tell me it was cancelled. An unbelievable lack of professionalism resulting on losing money and time, not to say making me wait for them like an idiot. I recommend everyone to run away from them.

    Great tour. You get to see wild kangaroos up close and koalas in enclosure. There are different types of native Australian birds too! The guide Neil was very knowledgeable about the animals and birds and was able to share a lot.
