Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of stories that emerged from the devastating 2004 tsunami on this cycling tour to the Old Town. Pedal your way through scenic countryside, stopping at key sites that played a role in the aftermath of the tsunami. At the Ban Nam Khem Tsunami Memorial and Museum, you’ll reflect on the lives lost and the strength of those who rebuilt. Step back in time as you explore the charming Takua Pa Old Town. Wander its historic lanes, admire the faded Sino-Portuguese architecture, and enjoy a coffee and snack in one of its quirky, character-filled cafés. Marvel at the serene golden pagoda and pause for a moment of quiet before crossing the iconic Iron Bridge. Your ride culminates at Baan Tharn Namchai, a home built for children who lost everything in the tsunami. Here, you’ll witness the lasting impact of generosity and support as we continue to provide love, safety, and opportunity for the next generation. After a delicious Thai lunch, we’ll return you to your hotel in the early afternoon—hearts full, legs a little tired, and spirits lifted by the incredible stories of resilience you’ve encountered along the way.

Nunn and the team at Hands Experience Thailand are fantastic to deal with and we couldn't recommend them enough. During our time in Khao Lak we arranged 3 different tours with the team on different days- a fantastic well organised day bike ride that gave you a taste of Thailand you just don't see in taxi, car transport to explore the local vibrant Sunday market in Takua Pa (this makert shouldn't be missed if you love trying local street food) and a further tour arranged to see the elephants, turtles & bamboo rafting . Communication - excellent , safety - excellent, passion for the community - excellent ! We loved that part of our $$$ were being put back into the community and local orphanage.

The booking process was easy and was immediately contacted by Nicha to discuss the trip. Confirmation of pickup time was provided and Nunn was there on time. We got our bikes, great care was taken that the bikes were right for us. We set off to the Tsunami Memorial and museum. Nunn provided a lot of information and took wonderful photos which he sent over to me that evening. The experience of riding through the beautiful scenery of Phang Nga can not be beaten and it was an amazing way to see areas not ventured into before. We stopped for a fresh coconut, a wonderful coffee. The gold pagoda was amazing. The bike ride was very enjoyable even in the rain. The lunch, fruit, snacks and cool water were plentiful. The whole team was friendly and knowing we were supporting the local orphanage made it even more special. I recommend this tour for all abilities even if not a regular biker.

What a lovely day. Cycling 29km, seeing sites of countryside life and town life. You get to see so much and it's definitely off the beaten tourist track. Nunn was the perfect host and gave lots of insights and stories. The snacks at the first stop off point was very welcome! The coffee shop very quaint. I really liked the old town and especially the murals. Nunn made sure cold water was replenished and that all his guests were catered for. The Buddhist temple we visited, was in my opinion my favourite of all the ones I've seen in Thailand - admittedly it is very sparkly and grand! The bhikkhuni (female monks) were very charming and made me a lovely bracelet, which I'm absolutely smitten with. The little shop that we stopped off with handmade items made by the children who Nunn and Nicha raise money for were very beautiful and I look forward to popping the elephant I purchased, on the Christmas Tree every year to remind me of my memorable day... and the creative sunflower, giving it to my mumsie, who will likely pop it on the kitchen shelf. Lunch was scrumptious and plentiful. I loved the coconut pudding with other ingredients (I won't spoil the surprise) - I've tried a lot of desserts here, and this one was the best and certainly the oddest! It's a well worth cause and I feel that if you have the physical energy and capacity to do this, then go for it! I saw much more of Thai life and normality on this trip than any other and though at some moments, I was absolutely shattered from the heat and humidity (mainly at the last 3km), I'm glad I persevered and would happily do it all again. Thank you.

We have travelled to Khao Lak for the past 8 years and this was by far the best Tour we have ever participated in. Firstly the booking system is easy and user friendly. We booked online and received immediate confirmation with correspondence from Nicha of our upcoming tour. Friendly and warm from the start. On the day of our tour we were collected personally by Nunn from our hotel, and to our delight were the only ones for the day so experienced a VIP private day! We were taken directly to headquarters not far away where our bikes were ready and waiting, (we had been asked our heights prior so they were perfectly adjusted) we were given a quick demonstration of the e bikes (I should mention we opted for this as an extra given the Thailand heat and not knowing what we were riding on the 30km) the bikes are exceptional- cannondales, modern, clean with drink holders that they supplied us with big drink bottles of iced water that were replenished during the journey. So easy to use and we loved the e bike option to really get the most out of the ride. Once ready we headed to the Tsunami museum to stroll at our leisure, both informative and interesting and worth the visit. From there we rode about an hr to the Old TakuaPa town to stop at an incredible 300 year old coffee shop for Thai tea and tasty snacks. Am was in the support vehicle behind us and bought in fresh watermelon and pineapple also, so lovely. We then continued our ride through takua Pa, stunning country roads, past local buildings and even experienced a herd of water buffalo with farmers. The scenery was beautiful and all the while our guide Nunn provided us with local information which was so interesting. We then visited a temple, and rode on further to have a delicious lunch at an authentic Thai restaurant. We tried a local desert and really enjoyed the company of Nunn and Am. Whilst eating lunch our bikes were packed up and we then finished up with a tour of the orphanage that Many Hands Accross the Water supports which was such a lovely way to end the trip. We were returned to our hotel so happy and enthusiastic to participate in a bigger ride next year through Thailand to raise money for this incredible organisation. I must add that my partner and I do not consider ourselves bike enthusiasts/athletes but found the tour very rewarding and not difficult utilising the e-bikes. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting Khao Lak to book any bike tour with this company, we felt so well looked after, so much so that we have made new friends for the future. Professional, honest, so well organised and supportive of an organisation changing lives of young people. Thank you for what you have created.

If you are after a cycling tour that contributes to changing the lives of disadvantaged children then this is it. Lovely gentle riding allowed us to savour the landscape and although it was hot weather, the tour is very professionally run and we had plenty of breaks, drinks and fruit along the way. Stops at the Tsunami Memorial and the Baan Tharn Namchai home for disadvantaged children and a visit Takua-Pa Old Town made it a very meaningful day you won’t forget.
