A guide and a mountain support crew will arrive at the hotel in the morning in order to meet you and hold another briefing, after which you will travel by vehicle (roughly 3–4 hours) to Kilimanjaro National Park's western entrance: Londorossi Gate (2,200 m). After the quick formality of acquiring climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, the group continues upwards towards their drop off point by off-road vehicles (reaching 3,500 meters). Here you can see stunning views of the Shira Plateau for the first time. The route from your drop off point to your first high-altitude camp Shira 2 features a moderate gain in altitude and is not too physically challenging. Due to this, you will be able to properly begin the process of acclimatization. By the time you reach the camp, our professional mountain crew will prepare everything necessary, put tents and cook dinner for you. This will be your first day at this altitude, so it is strongly recommended you heed the following instructions from this point on: ● Abstain from consuming alcohol and caffeine ● Drink over 4 liters of bottled water daily (little by little, frequently) ● Take a Diamox pill to help alleviate symptoms of altitude sickness. Most mountain climbers take Diamox in the morning, before they start their ascent, in order to reduce discomfort associated with altitude sickness. We recommend you consult your doctor prior to the trip in case of potential allergies. At night you may experience discomfort associated with acclimatization to the high altitude: because of a reduction in your waking breathing pattern, your body gets less oxygen than during the day. Taking altitude into account, you may therefore start feeling sick and have a headache. Pay attention to your own body and tell your guide if you start feeling any symptoms of altitude sickness. After breakfast you will leave Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m) and start your way to the key point of the route: Lava Tower (4,630 m). This section of the route has a lot of ascents and descents that end in a camp at over 4,600 meters. It might be difficult, and you may feel some discomfort, but in order to successfully acclimate to the altitude you have to spend at least 1–2 hours here, so this is where lunch will be. Then you will descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m). Here you can see the famous Barranco Wall, impressive in both its massive size and steepness! Next day you will be climbing it, but don't worry: it features a very simple hiking trail. Note: If one or more participants feel sick, the group may refrain from passing the Lava Tower and adjust the route, following instead the road for porters. In this case you will not reach an altitude of 4,630 meters, getting up only to a maximum of 4,400 meters. Early wakeup, breakfast and the start of summiting Barranco Wall (we recommend you leave the camp as early as possible to avoid crowds of the other groups). Hiking up the gorge wall is not difficult and only takes around an hour. After the climb you can have a rest and take photos in front of the Kibo volcano. Then you start a more difficult hike to Karanga Camp, which features numerous ascents and descents during the route, but don't worry: our guides are experts at choosing an optimal pace for the group. After reaching the camp you will be offered warm lunch. After a couple of hours you will have to complete an acclimatization hike in the direction of Barafu Camp with a 300-meter gain in altitude, and then descent back down to the camp. Note: The acclimatization hike is an easy trek with a slight gain in altitude done in order to speed up the acclimatization process. You should take the acclimatization hikes very seriously. They help increase your chances of successfully summiting Kilimanjaro and save you from the consequences of altitude sickness. After regaining strength, you have to complete an acclimatization hike towards the intermediate Kosovo Summit Camp (4,800 m) and then back to Barafu Camp, where you will be served a hot dinner. It is better to spend the remainder of the day resting and sleeping before night summiting. Departure from Barafu Camp (4,640 m) at night and the start of summiting Kilimanjaro: Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Technically the climb is relatively simple; however, the most challenging part is the high altitude. Each pair of climbers will get a personal guide for the entire ascent to monitor your physical and mental conditions. After your successful ascent to Uhuru Peak, you can descend to the nearest glacier if desired. Then you will return to Barafu Camp and after a 2-hour rest continue your descent to Millennium Camp (3,820 m). Note: Don't forget that 90% of all accidents occur during the descent, including all broken arms and legs. Please pay attention to your feet, as there is a high risk of damaging your toenails. We had the best experience with Altazza for the 6 day Lemosho route in Sept 2025. We have a group of 9 and 8 of us successfully reached to the summit. My heart is full and I'm deepky humbled by all 44 of wonderful guides and porters from Altezza Travel. I can't make my dream come true without them. Thank you for all the care, support, encouragement, handholding, the singing in the dark night before sun rise in the summit night... Alteazza travel & Safari team also provided the best experience to us. Our checked bags didnt' arrive on time, so the driver went beyond to pick up our bags the next day and delivered to our hotel at 1am on our hiking departure date. My husband and I also did 4 day Safari with the safari team. We had a private car and a very knowledgable guide. Words can't express my gratitude. Thank you Altezza team for making this amazing lifetime memory for us. We highly recommend Altezza Travel to anyone who wants to climb Mt Kili and Safarti in Tanzania.

Amazing experience. The Altezza team was so knowledgeable and incredibly well organized. They made the trip easy and fun, and I would highly recommend anyone considering a Kili summit to go with the Altezza team. Justin, Honest, Osward, Julius, and all the others that helped make our trip a success were fantastic.

We just returned from an 18 day vacation to Tanzania. We hiked the Lemosho route on Kilimanjaro and then went on a safari to Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Arusha National Park. Due to illness, we had to move our vacation dates and Altezza took care of everything. They rescheduled the entire itinerary. They were flexible and basically let me custom pick our trip. They arranged everything from our transfers, accommodations, safari locations, hiking Kili, hot air balloon ride and flight out of the Serengeti to Arusha. Communication was excellent with quick responses for all questions and concerns. Altezza staff and guides were amazing. It's hard to believe we felt pampered on a dry and desolate mountain, but we did. From the tent, food and guides everything was great. Our guides seemed to make it their mission to help each of us in our group reach the summit and we all succeeded. The staff had our tents and food ready by the time we reached each camp. They even had someone waiting for us to knock the dust off our pants and boots after a long day's hike. They set up a table with tea, coffee and snacks along each day's hiking route so we could take a break and refuel. You could pay extra for a personal tent with a port a potty which I would highly recommend. It was kept clean and tidy and even had toilet paper. For the safari, we had our own personal guide who did his best to not only find the animals for us, but also share all kinds of information about each one. Because it was just my husband and myself, we took as many pictures and videos as we wanted and sometimes just watched the animals. If we didn't want to stay, our guide would find us some more animals elsewhere. I wouldn't change a thing about the trip. We loved every minute and felt Altezza was a huge part in the success of having a memorable vacation.

Climbing Kilimanjaro was the ultimate adventure! Altezza was such an amazing company to work with, they thought of everything! The guides and porters took the best care of us! They were so warm and spirited, we loved spending the week with them and getting to know them. The food was also really good! I'm a picky eater and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed our meals. You don't need to pack a ton of snacks, they feed you well!! The hike itself was very well paced. Our group ranged from 21 to 64 years ago and everyone summited!

I climbed Kilimanjaro with Altezza September 2025. The team was amazing! Our head guide Bosco was very knowledgeable and did his very best to keep us safe and get us to the top of the mountain. Our servers Hussein and Dionis were awesome! They kept us well fed and even became rafiki. Our other guides, Noel, Innocent, and Hamza, were also great and did their jobs with excellence! Thank you Altezza for making this trip a trip of a lifetime!

Simply put, we could not have been happier with Altezza's 6-day Lemosho Route in mid-Aug 2025. The weather was perfect, the guides/porters/staff were exceptionally amazing, the food was incredible, and the whole tour felt very professional without losing a friendly, caring personal touch. Our guides: Simon (head guide), Lihiru, Urio, Julius, Juma & Kelvin were A++, the chef Issac was unbelievably skilled, and the team of porters/staff supporting the expedition were some of the kindest and most competent human beings I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. In hindsight: absolutely get the private bathroom (so worth it), don't bring snacks except maybe a few sweets for Summit Day (they feed you massive qtys of high quality food until you're stuffed), bring electrolytes, and try to bring stuff to leave behind since they appreciate donations for things you won't need anymore. I wholeheartedly recommend Altezza and their fabulous staff, and I say this as someone who is receiving no compensation whatsoever. We ended up tipping substantially more than I expected going into this tour given how standout the experience was. Thank you Altezza & team, you run a fabulous operation, and I hope the staff all get a healthy raise.

Just got back from a 7-day Lemosho Route climb up Kilimanjaro with an Altezza team lead by chief guide Justine Kimario and assistant guides Valency, Hamza, Adriano and Aggrey. As well as summit assistant Joseph Urasa. These men were the most professional, charismatic, helpful and attentive guides I have ever experienced. Absolutely amazing. Their strength in carrying extra packs and in powering people to the top and getting them safely to the bottom deserves nothing but stellar accolades. I would give more stars. But they limit us to only five. Justine is simply just a force of nature. Valency is a super stud power climber with spry stamina and always a good joke. Hamza is a veritable songbird of the mountains, entertaining with his smiling demeanor and easy temperament. Adriano is a mountain goat and mountain guide in the true sense, offering great insight into Kilimanjaro and Tanzanian culture while never afraid to climb in the toughest conditions. Aggrey is a steely peak-hunting pro focused on safety and success, always making time for the clients. Joseph is the the selfless guide focused on anticipating every climber's each and every need and making sure they have the best experience possible. Super experience, and I highly recommend Altezza and this team of pros to anyone.

My wife and I, we had the privilege of visiting Tanzania and climbing mount Kilimanjaro at the end of July, 2025. Our "partners in crime" for the climbing experience were Altezza Travel - and we cannot congratulate ourselves enough for choosing their services 😉. All of their services and staff, from marketing, to guides, to porters, et al., were top notch. If you plan to climb mount Kilimajaro as well, be ready as the mountain will continuously test you, but nonetheless remember that Altezza's crew is there for you, they are true professionals with years of experience, and they'll do everything they can to make you succeed.

I’ve written reviews in the past for a couple of very bad experiences, so I feel I should do the same for those that are truly excellent — and our Mt. Kilimanjaro climb with Altezza was definitely one of them! I cannot recommend them enough. They were extremely professional throughout, with thoughtful gestures that made our trip much less stressful. 10/10!!! (+ we reached the summit, so… 11/10 haha!) A few things that hopefully illustrate my positive review: • The Altezza team was incredibly responsive by email, with comprehensive answers to all our questions before the trip — really appreciated! • Our guides (shoutout to Emmanuel, Hance, and Michael!) were very experienced, safety-focused (it was comforting to know we were in the hands of people who took this seriously), and extremely helpful throughout — they literally helped us up during summit night to make sure we made it! • During summit night, they made sure there was one guide per person — a total game changer in terms of support and removing group pressure. • Our suitcase was delayed and arrived after our group had already left — Altezza provided us with all the essential equipment we needed and even organized the delivery of our suitcase to their office while we were already on the mountain! • Food, porters, tents, etc. — all amazing! • The preparation materials were top-notch and really helped answer all our questions before the trip. I’m sure I’m forgetting plenty, but it honestly felt like they had thought through every detail. I felt in capable hands. Had a fantastic experience and would absolutely recommend Altezza! p.s. I would maybe recommend the 7 or 8 day trip for better altitude acclimatization, as it was a bit tough! GOOD LUCK ALL!
