This program is not just an experience. Many of the tea ceremony instructors who will be in charge of the tea ceremony have been involved in tea ceremony culture for many years, and they will not only explain the tea ceremony culture you want to know about, but also provide detailed explanations about all aspects of Japanese culture. They will also give you direct advice on how to enjoy the real tea ceremony culture.
Also, you can enjoy a tea ceremony experience while wearing a kimono. First, choose a kimono with your favorite color and pattern from the rich kimono collection in Nishijin, Kyoto. We will help you with your hair set before putting on your kimono. After that, you will have a simple photo shoot.

In this program, you can enjoy a tea ceremony experience while wearing a kimono. First, choose a kimono with your favorite color and pattern from the rich kimono collection in Nishijin, Kyoto. We will help you with your hair set before putting on your kimono. After that, you will have a simple photo shoot and then enjoy the tea ceremony experience with a master. Our tea room has been used for three generations. It is located near Daitoku-ji Temple, a place deeply rooted in Japanese tea culture. It's a bit old, but we'll do our best to help alleviate the fatigue from your trip to Japan. First, a tea master who has studied tea ceremonies for 30 years will show you the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. After having a cup of tea with seasonal sweets, you will learn about the history and etiquette of the ceremony, and even have the chance to prepare your tea. Why don't you share a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime time with the tea master?

I didn’t know what to expect on the tea ceremony day, but I’ve become a massive matcha fan! Dressing up in beautiful kimonos (my husband too!) was such a highlight — the outfits and photos were amazing. The actual matcha-making experience was wonderful, and since I’m really keen on matcha, Part of my reason for coming to Japan was to get high-quality matcha at a reasonable price, and it’s amazing how much matcha you find everywhere here. A little note: be prepared, as it’s quite far out of the centre of Kyoto, but it’s worth it. The location allowed us to see another beautiful area — we visited a shrine and a Japanese garden nearby, which made the trip even more special. Overall, the tea ceremony was absolutely worth it — great value for money, and I’d thoroughly recommend it!

This was a great experience. You choose your kimono outfit and are helped into it and if you are a female you get your hair done. And they offer take photos with your phone. The tea ceremony itself was outstanding with good information and even though our tea master only spoke Japanese our interpreter helped us understand everything. It was quite a calming event. Highly recommend

This was a truly wonderful experience. The tea ceremony at Caren was serene, beautifully presented, and deeply meaningful. Wearing a kimono added an authentic and elegant touch, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the tradition. The host explained each step with grace and patience, helping me understand the cultural and spiritual aspects behind the ritual. The setting was calm and refined, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and reflect. I left with a deep appreciation for the art of tea and Japanese hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto!
