Arenal 1968 Volcano View & Trails
The tour starts with a hotel pickup followed by a 30-minute drive to the 1968 Arenal Volcano Park, where you will start your activity, a 2.30 hour hike to the base of Arenal Volcano. The hike is fairly easy and most of it is over flat ground. The goal is to arrive at a Dry lava field from 1968 eruption (this part of the trail is rocky), see it, talk about it and give you all the history about the Arenal Volcano.
La Fortuna Waterfall
La Fortuna Waterfall is an amazing natural spot, about 70-75 meters tall. To get to the bottom, you'll need to go down and then climb back up around 500 steps, but it’s totally worth it. There are safe spots where you can swim and enjoy the fresh water. This is the perfect mix of adventure and tropical beauty in Costa Rica.

This tour could not have been much better. Our tour guide, Katalina was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor as well. All three hikes were beautiful. We hiked the lava trail at the Arenal Volcano. Katarina explained the history of the Volcano and pointed out wildlife along the trail (as she did on the other two hikes) that we would not have seen otherwise. La Fortuna waterfall was stunning and we had the opportunity to swim in the cold water below it. I would recommend bringing watershoes. Bring water and a towel as well. We had lunch and then went to the Mistico hanging bridges. The lunch was not bad but not our favorite. The hanging bridges was another beautiful hike. If you are truly afraid of heights this might not be for you, but for most it's a scenic and fun hike, with the opportunity to see more wildlife. There is a lot of walking involved so wear comfortable shoes. I logged over 19000 steps that day and there are about 500 stairs each way at the falls. We were picked up at our hotel at 7:30am and dropped off at about 4:00pm. We saw many birds, coutis, lizards, a sloth, a monkey and probably more. This is a must-do if you are in the area and hopefully you will be lucky enough to have Katalina as your guide!

Catalina is a very knowledgeable and personable tour-guide who clearly enjoys what she does. She showed us several different animals in their natural habitat and took photos that she shared with our tour group. Our driver made sure we arrived safely at each tour stop, and return. It was a bit disappointing that we couldn't get closer to the volcano, but that's the rules.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — 5 stars all the way for Will and Henry! Thank you for picking my partner and me up and showing us the best parts of La Fortuna. We did the Arenal 1968 hike, La Fortuna Waterfall, and the Hanging Bridges in the rainforest — such an amazing experience from start to finish. Will stayed with us the entire time and explained the history and culture in great detail. He also brought his awesome binoculars and helped us spot so many animals in the rainforest — spider monkeys, eyelash viper snakes, beautiful birds, and more! Super fun and I would definitely recommend this trip to everyone. I tracked our activities and logged about 6.5 miles of walking and hiking, so be sure to wear good walking shoes for the hike and rainforest trails. Also, getting to La Fortuna Waterfall involves about 500 steps down — and back up — so it’s perfect for anyone who enjoys a good workout and wants to hit their 20,000 steps for the day! 🙂 Lunch was also good! We had chicken fajita with all the basic rice and beans at Soda La Fortuna.

This trip was really fantastic. Our guide was so informative and funny and made our experience to another extend. They have pick up and drop off before and after the trip. Just letting you know, be ready to walk for long and always carry water bottle, insect repellent, and shoes.

I was traveling solo but the group I ended up with was great and made the day fun. We started out with the volcano hike. Because it was raining all morning, the trail was slippery and the visibility of the volcano at the summit was non-existent. The downhill part of the climb involved steep, high stairs that are rough on your joints. If I were to do it again, I’d skip this part and just do the waterfall and hanging bridges. We didn’t see any animals or real scenery on this part of the tour & it was the most physically challenging. After the volcano, we went to the waterfall. It is a lot of stairs, but they’re paved and are a lot of landings to stop and breathe on the way back up. Post waterfall, we drove to lunch and saw another tour group stopped on the side of the road so we stopped - we got to see a Toucan fairly close up so that was the animal highlight of the day. Lunch was good (had the arroz con pollo) and a nice break. We had someone else join for the hanging bridges, which was our last stop. This was my favorite part though I had hoped for a few more animal sightings in Mistico Park. Total distance covered was just under 7 miles.

Although the weather was not cooperating, the tour was still a great experience and absolutely worthwhile. Special mention to Catalina our guide who funny, informative and cared for the safety of everyone. She also had this uncanny ability to spot the animals and birds amongst the trees. Her finding the sloth made our day. Lunch was delicious as well. Highly recommend this tour

Great full day to experience the volcano hike, waterfall and hanging bridge. Lunch was delicious with plenty of options. The trip was well paced. Bring a poncho it helps with the rain. Our guide Katarina was funny and great at spotting wildlife. The communication was great from the company. And you can leave your stuff on the bus and take what you need. I enjoyed this tour very much

Tour was good. We saw everything that was stated. We loved Mistico Park. The hanging bridges was awesome. This tour is not for the mobile impaired. La Fortuna Waterfall was nice - a lot of steps down and a lot of steps back up. It gets the heart pumping. The volcano hike was ok. Our guide was friendly. We were picked up on time.
