We visited Ljubljana castle on 1st January 2026. We buy a family ticket for 46€. It is included the funicular and all halls. In the castle there are a lot of halls. Some of them are The Museum of puppetry, Vurtual 4d film about the history of the castle, Viewing tower, Slovenian history exhibition and more. It was fascinating experience. The Ljubljana castle is must seen.

It's not worth paying the ticket to see puppets and climb the tower. You can enter for free to see the cells, the terrace and the inner courtyard.

Positive experience. Well maintained and recently renovated castle. You don't have to go by funicular; the road is uphill but the climb is quite gentle and doesn't take more than 10 minutes. From the castle of enjoys a beautiful view of the city, especially if you climb the clock tower. Great experience the Tour Machine (virtual tour of the castle in the past). To warm up I recommend the cafeteria: well stocked and well furnished!

Fortunately the bar at the beginning of the climb was open because I had to face the climb to the top to visit (for a fee) a branch of the supermarket under the house we would not forgive ourselves. A crazy disappointment, not recommended the visit.

I didn’t understand anything about this castle! At the back of the funicular, there are lots of signs like “view terrace” or “café”, but none that indicate where the visit begins... And yet, there is a plan, with numbers on it, but they do not follow each other and none leaves from the place where the funicular arrives... There are small exhibitions on the right, on the left... Result: people go in different directions, we search, we are lost... Then, either I was the one who found nothing, or it is the castle that is empty... but, there is nothing interesting in this castle... In any case, nothing worth the price of admission! 19 euros for an empty castle and 2 minutes of funicular... that's expensive!

We visited via the funicular, we enjoyed the visit and ascended the castle top view point. Great views over the city. We had coffee and snack

Nice museum and easy to access castle. It was a bit modernized but that was ok. Enjoyed the trip downhill as well.

There is work in progress in the castle so there is chaos in the signage. We've been spinning like spinning tops to figure out which way to go in. Of great beauty is the main tower, which is reached via a red helical staircase and from there there there is a spectacular view. I also liked the puppet show. For the rest I appreciated the architectural project of restoration of the building (very accurate, cor-ten, exposed rods, minimally invasive paths that did not disturb the reading of the building), more than the castle itself. Beautiful also the walk to climb up. Back we did it in complete darkness. Exciting but an old man might have stumbled

A pleasant and relaxing walk from the center to the castle. Inside, not much to see, but always beautiful view over the city.
