Spend quality time with one of the world's most exotic animals. You trek with your own llama, who walks on a lead, at your side, while carrying your belongings in saddle bags.
Llama are highly intelligent, clever animals = requiring that you get to know them (and work with them) to successfully complete your trek. The subtle 'bond' you form with your llama companion is highly rewarding.
You experienced guide will help you get to know your woolly companion.
Your guide will also share a range of local Kaikoura history and information, including the extraordinary effects of the 2016 earthquake (the largest ever recorded in New Zealand)
You do not ride your llama.

5.00I can't say enough about our half day llama trek of Kaikoura Bays! Kevin, our professional and extremely knowledgeable guide first started the trek with a briefing about the llamas and their behavior and what to expect from them. I had Pegasus and my husband had Bluey. We still talk about them daily like they are family. They are such sweet and entertaining animals. Our trek was along the kaikora coastline surrounded by ocean and mountains! We stopped for a coffee and cake picnic in the shade and had a lovely time learning more about the animals and area. I couldn't stop smiling during our trek, such a beautiful memory. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Thank Kevin for sharing you passion for these animals with us. Just amazing!!!

5.00Had an excellent day with Kevin and his Llamas. They're such gentle but hard-headed animals, and me and my Llama (Archie) really bonded over the few hours we trekked together. Kevin is an excellent guide, educating us all about the surrounding area and (of course) Llamas. The hiking itself was easy (if you discount having to drag along a Llama that would much rather eat grass).

Kevin’s passion for his llamas really shone through — he shared fascinating insights into their behaviour and personalities, making the experience both educational and heartwarming. It was so special to bond with an individual llama and get to know its unique character. A truly memorable and enjoyable day — highly recommended!!!!!

5.00Was a lovely experience in Kaikoura, this trek I highly recommend. When I came here I wasnt expected have fun with this llamas, also was a good way to know more about the town. We walked along the coast and learning a lot about llamas and the town. I have to say that our host, Kevin, is amazing and friendly, he has a lot of stories about the town and the llamas (because every llama is unique). I highly recommend this unique and amazing experience because are so exotic and friendly animals.

5.00Had an amazing time on this Llama trek. The llamas are very sweet and very calm creatures. You definitely felt a bond with them and I had Hero who was a very relaxed alpha llama. Our guide Kevin was very informative and made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommend as its a rare opportunity in NZ!

5.00What a blast we had ...loved the walk with the Alpaca's .... all the additional info , the stories told and the picknick arranged by Kevin, he was the best , what a great tour guide. High recommended and I would def come back my next visit !!
