  Kevin the owner of the Llamas was very clear & informative regarding the needs & characteristics of his special creatures, & how to get the best from them, & how to get them, (as fairly nervous creatures who are easily spooked), to feel comfortable with us leading them. My wife was more apprehensive during our initial introduction, Kevin recognised this, & was extra reassuring towards her. If we had more time here, we would have opted for the half day experience.

  Great "taster" experience to get comfortable with the llama. Honestly, I would do this first to get a feel for the Llama and learn about the woodland, then book the longer beaches tour to really experience the Kaikoura area and feel more bonded to the Llama. Animal lovers of all kinds will love this!!! Give Llama trekking a go!!!

  So.much.fun. If you love animals and love learning about them, this will be a great experience for you. The llamas were just so incredible to be so close to. And Kevin was a great teacher, educating us about the animals and how to interact with them successfully so we could have a fun walk. And I really appreciated that the preparation time wasn’t considered part of the hour so we had a full hour to spend with llamas. Thank you for making our first full day in New Zealand a fun one!

  Kev was an excellent guide, full of info about how llamas behave & how important it is for them to gain the trust of their companion. After his introduction he took four of us on an hour’s trek, stopping regularly for the llamas to tuck into the grass verges. We had a wonderful time & would highly recommend this activity which in our opinion is far better than looking for whales! Harry & Rupert were very well behaved. By the way, llamas are part of the camel family of animals!

  If you have a choice between taking a stroll through the woods near Kaikoura alone or with a llama, why wouldn't you do it with a llama? Pegasus was magnificent and our guide Kevin threaded that needle of keeping the animals comfortable while getting beginners acquainted with their nature and behavior expertly. Thank you for the wonderful hour!

  We had such a lovely time on the llama trek. It was different from what we expected but in a really positive way! We have experience with lots of other animals and thought it would be just a leading walk with llama. But we got to build trust and a relationship with them and learned so much about their behavior and history. Our kids are 5 and 8 and were so proud to have gotten to know their llama well enough to walk them themselves towards the end. They had a great time and we have been doing a happy llama hum together since! We also stayed in the tipi the night before and highly recommend it! Kevin, Dan and Phoebe and all of the animals at their farm are so nice. Thank you all!

  Interesting adventure getting up close with llamas. The tour was friendly and well run and I learned a lot of interesting things about the llamas. Be prepared to be an active participant, but nothing hard or scary.

  We did the short trek llama walk with our toddler (in a baby carrier). It was a lovely experience and Kevin, the owner/guide, is super engage able, friendly and knowledgeable so you learn plenty about llamas themselves as well.

  My wife and I joined Kevin, two of his llamas, Pegasus and Bluey, and his dog, Chloe, on the Taster Trek during our last day in Kaikoura. We spent the hour learning about the llamas' personalities and behaviors and how to properly work with and care for them. Over the course of the hour, we developed a trusting relationship with our llamas; and the time just flew by. We weren't ready to part ways when the experience was over. Next time we are in the area, we want to do the half-day trek!
