The Battle of Long Tan
Long Tan Nui Dat battlefield is the most famous battle fought by the Australian Army during the Vietnam War. This battle took place in a rubber plantation. On 18 August 2016 a low-key ceremony was held on the site of the battle; more than 1,000 Australian veterans and their families travelled to Viet Nam to participate in the 50th anniversary commemoration. The tour will begin with a departure for Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province by minivan. The local guide will take you to the site of Long Tan Battlefield where you will visit the former 1st Australian Task Force at Nui Dat.
Nui Dat hill
Our first stop-over is Nui Dat SAS Hill, where you will be shown the helicopter parking and camping areas of soldiers and explained the important sites during the war. You will have an overview of the 4 km circle of the Nui Dat base perimeter. Next, we will visit the rubber forest and pass Mong Ngua Mountain – which was used to be the shelter of Vietnamese soldiers.

Jack is a fantastic tour guide. He has worked hard to better understand the visitors needs and shared his deep knowledge of historical events. We visited all the sites that Australians and NZs would want to see. We enjoyed Jacks sene of humour and Aussie references.

This was amazing customised tour that visited the nui dat bas and long tan battle field. It was fasinatiing to follow the informarion presented by Dingo in relation to the Australian locations in Vietnam and many other aspects. We walked around the battle areas to gain an appreciation for the exact locatuon. Dingo ran two moving memorial sercices tgat went very smoothly given his organisasion of the event. I would highly recommwndcto gather a group together and make the journey.

Dingo was great! Well informed and added additional elements which made the tour sentimental. Picked up from hotel and dropped on time.

Well worth the price. Dingo has close ties to the veteran community and obviously cares and knows very much about the Australian Task Forces during the Vietnam war. An enjoyable day out

Rushed and cheesy ceremony. Not impressed and not what was advertised. Disappointed as we have veteran loved ones and it felt unauthentic. Also lunch was a dismal effort

We had Dingo Thien for our guide who picked us up from Saigon and took us to Nui Dat, Long Tan as well as some VC tunnels nearby. Dingo is immensely knowledgeable about the area and it's history having met many people involved in 1 ATF operations including people involved in the battle for Long Tan. The area has virtually no remnants of the ATF base so Dingo was very useful being able to explain where interested areas of the base used to exist.

A fantastic experience. Our guide Dingo Chein was exceptional combining a great sense of history with local knowledge. The personal memorial service provided for a great sense of reflection for the occasion'. Great conversation, stories and sense of humour. Very highly recommended.

Many thanks to our charismatic tour guide Dingo Chien who made our trip to honour the Australian and New Zealand war efforts in Vietnam very memorable. Dingo proposed an early start to beat the city traffic and this was a smart move which allowed us to enjoy more time to pay our respects at Nui Dat and Long Tan. Dingo has put a lot of time and thought into creating a very respectful experience for Aussies wishing to visit this iconic site. His bonza personality and collection of memorabilia and passionate knowledge of our digger’s contribution made the day enjoyable from start to finish. Complete with a look at a nearby basic VC tunnel system, which was easier to traverse than the Cu Chi tunnels we had visited a couple of days earlier, the day was more than worthwhile for a couple of CMF/Reservist ex servicemen who appreciated the opportunity to pay homage to the bravery of our troops. Great work Dingo!

This is a tour for Australians to connect with our participation in the Vietnam war. The tour guide, Dingo, is very knowledgeable and passionate and has his own personal connections with the Australian presence in Nui Dat. The short service at the Long Tan memorial was a particular highlight. We would both highly recommend this tour to any Australians visiting Ho Chi Minh.
