Hi, I am Mark, your experienced guide and I offer a fun and informative tour, with stories of not just history, but the people who lived in the town and the characters that make the town what it is today.
You will start off by meeting ‘Nelson’ our ‘Grand Old Man of the Sea’ and from there we will wind our way through the beautiful harbour town, the hidden backstreets, the quay side and the wonderful bridge ending up at our magnificent beachfront and ‘Banjo Pier’
Along the way learn about the history of the town, its building and its people. See the hidden streets and buildings that you wouldn’t normally see, and hear stories fo the characters that have worked here .
The tour is fun, light and informative, and you are free to ask me questions to make the most of your experience.
I will recommend local places to eat and drink, and know the area well.

Looe
Exploring the streets and haunts of East and West Looe, you will discover tales of the characters who lived here, the history behind the town and stories about how the town got to be how it is today. We spend 90 minutes exploring and discovering the hidden gems of our beautiful harbour town. Some of the attractions are listed below, but many are hidden away that only we will discover!!
We will spend time on Pennyland meeting 'Nelson' and then talk about the old Sardine Factory, the influence of the fishing industry, before heading to West Looe Quay and beyond

5.00We had a great time yesterday with Mark from Looe Walking Tours on the From Pennyland to The Pier tour. It was fantastic to learn the fascinating history of Looe, its buildings and its people. Who knew that the iron loops outside St Nicholas Church were to attach ‘scoulding cages’ for troublesome women! Mark is a really engaging and knowledgeable guide. The tour was advertised for 90 minutes, however it actually went on for over two hours. Absolutely excellent value for money and hugely enjoyable. Highly recommended. Looking forward to the Smugglers and Skulduggery tour next!

Your local knowledge was exemplary and you made the historic sites come alive with really interesting stories and fun anecdotes. We both learned so much about Looe and Cornwall. We enjoyed going off the beaten track to see hidden Looe that we would not have experienced. We particularly enjoyed hearing about your family and your connection to the town. Could not have been better. The dogs enjoyed it too!!!! Thank you.

5.00We had the most amazing experience with Mark on the Smugglers and Skullduggery walking tour today. Mark was so friendly and interesting and we could have kept walking and listening all day. We've been coming to Looe for 24 years and yet have never walked through the streets and really looked at the history of the buildings and obviously hearing all about the various places was so interesting. We've never really explored West Looe but intend to do that tomorrow. We can't put into words how good this tour was. Our advice....do a walking tour with Mark,you certainly won't regret it.

5.00Mark was the ultimate host for our walking tour today. Knowledgeable and passionate about the fascinating history of the area, he was able to answer the many questions our 8 year old son had about pirates and smugglers and kept us all captivated. A wonderful way to spend a couple of hours and get under the skin of the fabulous town. The weather didn’t spoil anything at all, a real must for anyone visiting Looe.

Mark was brilliant at bringing the past to life and mixed the history/stories so well to keep the tour fun and interesting.
