5.00My daughters and I had the pleasure and great fortune of finding Nadie as our incredible guide of 5 people. Her knowledge of history of art and history in general was superb. The tour of the excavation under the Louvre was fascinating- I had no idea. Her storytelling ability was beyond compare. We were excited to learn more! Her French history knowledge was inspiring, especially regarding Napoleon. And the inside stories she told about mythology were creative and well executed. We were astounded. The tour went by so quickly 4:30 to 7:00 because it was packed with compelling information about the building, the back stories, and the scandals that made these works come to life. Where Mona Lisa was found and by whom when she was stolen, why that was globally seen as such a major event-the intrigue of Kings Henry and their wives, and more. I was thrilled. Go for a small group guide in the Louvre- it opens your eyes to the mystery behind the works, behind the paintings and sculptures, to the artists themselves, the techniques, and their students in the context of the times when they lived. She inspired me to read more in Napoleon, Raphael, Leonardo, the Louvre’s history, and the whole story around the Mona Lisa’s capture and return. The jewels are not yet found, and that section is closed, but what intrigue will be added to the stories when this is over. It was like taking an art history class from a professor. If she doesn’t have A pHD, she should. A master at her craft. Why read the tiny museum blurbs when you can learn from a true professor? Get your tickets! I want to go back for more. Now we have Rodin and Michaelangelo in a special exhibition that I’m sure a small group tour would show as well.

4.00Guide met at designated location and was on time. We were a group of 15 and made our way to group entry point. All pretty seamless. Our guide Sid was informative about Louvre pieces and history- made a lot of jokes in keeping with his side job of comedian- could have done without 50% of them. The museum is so very large and crowded - this tour could not have included more. Overall, I was pleased. I spent another 2 hours looking around on my own at end of group tour.

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed our tour at the Louvre. Caroline was very organized and grouped the tour in a manner that made sense by sculptures and paintings, blended in with historical facts. I do not know how the Louvre could be seen unless you have a guide. Even with a guide, there is only so much to be seen and Caroline pointed out the most popular pieces.

5.00Our tour guide Sid was a very friendly, funny and incredibly knowledgeable guy. He made the tour a great experience. Highly recommend. I will note that there is a lot of standing still while listening and depending on what else you have done that day it can get a little uncomfortable. Sid recognized that and tried to find places to sit but on a busy day that was sometimes hard.
