  Had the most incredible time at Mahai retreat. You can feel and see the amount of love, care and effort that was put into this place- brick by brick! 1. The staff are something else, they are so attentive and will truly make you feel so accommodated. 2. The nature of the retreat being self sustaining is something I had not yet come across. 3. The rooms were so beautifully put together and all had their own feel to them. 4. The food was truly something else- the chef always cultivated different incredible meals. 5.   Stayed here with close friends and had a wonderful time. The area was very secluded and the atmosphere was amazing. Spectacular food and wonderful staff throughout the trip. Would go again in a heartbeat any day!

  My friends and I booked a day pass at Mahai Retreat during our stop in Costa Maya, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Everything was seamless, transportation to and from the port was arranged for us, and we were welcomed with a delicious breakfast (in such a beautiful space) to begin our day. We spent the day relaxing by the pool, paddle boarding, getting massages, and making our best attempts at the cold plunge, which was super fun… truly couldn’t think of a better way to spend the day. The whole experience felt relaxing, thoughtful, and so much more intentional than any other excursion we’ve done in the past. The lunch was also incredible, and the staff made us feel right at home in this beautiful little corner of the world. We were seriously so sad it was just for a day! If you’re stopping in Costa Maya and looking for a relaxing, memorable day, I’d highly recommend Mahai.

  Had the best week at this tropical paradise. The food was amazing, the lodging was extremely comfortable, and the daily activities from snorkeling, paddle boarding, and relaxing in the hammocks made for an unforgettable experience. I hope to be back again soon!

  I just wanted to thank the entire Mahai team for such a wonderful day. As a solo traveler, I’m often careful about where I choose to spend my time, and from the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. The property itself is absolutely beautiful. As a designer, I was especially drawn to the thoughtful aesthetic — natural materials, calming textures, elegant simplicity, and spaces that feel deeply connected to the surrounding environment. There is a sense of intention in every detail. I also want to mention how impressed I was by the work your team has done to manage the sargasso. Being able to launch a paddleboard directly from the dock and paddle out into clear, beautiful water was one of the highlights of my day. Special thanks to the guys that opened up the gate of the net to let me paddle out. Kunti’s yoga class was exceptional — grounding, heartfelt, and exactly what I didn’t realize I needed. It set the tone for the entire experience. The delicious food, peaceful atmosphere, and kindness of everyone there made this feel far more meaningful than a typical cruise excursion. Thank you again for creating such a special place. I truly hope to return someday.

• A refreshing and rejuvenating retreat

  What a rejuvenating day in Costa Maya - this was such a special treat for my daughter and I. She preferred this over snorkeling, zip lining and the wild animal park we did at an earlier port. When our ship arrived in port, we were provided with excellent directions to meet our driver. After driving along the beautiful coastline for about 20 minutes, we were greeted with a sumptuous breakfast (we made the mistake of eating before we arrived - save your appetite). The chef and the whole kitchen crew who prepare your drinks and food are truly gifted - everything was so exquisitely crafted and delicious. After our refreshing drinks - I think one was coconut water from fresh coconuts on their property and lime and maybe mint? - and super tasty dishes, we went out to enjoy the beach in our own hammocks/ mini cabanas, then went to the pool and I relaxed while my daughter floated in the pool. We were introduced to some island crafts and we made a keepsake while they offered more healthy snacks including a massive bowl of the best guacamole and a large pitcher of hibiscus tea. We then did an hour of yoga in the beautiful rotunda overlooking the ocean with an experienced instructor who gently guided us. My daughter danced on the grass and the sand, went on the dock and enjoyed relaxing in the swing while dangling her legs over the ocean. The water was unusually choppy so we opted not to go on any watercraft like paddle boards. The beauty and serenity of the resort, our special keepsake, the delicious food that fed and nourished us (everything was healthy and anti-inflammatory) and all of the generous hospitality made our day in Costa Maya just perfect.   I was impressed with the attention to my "chill and relax" experience. Particularly the delicious food and drink options throughout the day. I can't believe a place this beautiful is tucked away in Mauhual!! Totally unexpected. The pool area was fantastic. The soft loungers were the perfect sunning place after floating for a while. The staff was attentive without hovering and SO cheerful. It really made me feel good. I will definitely be back. Many thanks and appreciation to everyone who made my day perfect. You guys are the best!!

  This whole experience has been nothing short of indulgent. I thought the cruise was going to be the main character in my vacation, but one afternoon at Mahai totally changed my mind. From the moment I arrived, everything was taken care of; Drinks, snacks, my meal and the peaceful setting poolside was like a dream. This resort exceeded all expectations. I can't thank the staff enough for making me feel pampered and cared for. It was just what I needed after being on the ship. The landscaping and flowers were especially beautiful and there was no shortage of comfortable spots to sit or lay out in the sun (or shade) to enjoy the ocean breeze and hear the waves singing. The food was fresh and tasty, the assortment of drinks was absolutely refreshing and hit the spot. I loved how neat and clean they kept it while still maintaining a cozy laid-back atmosphere. I would honestly love to come back and stay here longer. This is truly the jewel of Mauhual. I cannot recommend this day pass enough to anyone coming thru this port. Absolutely amazing. Beautifully done. Fresh delicious food and drink, all wrapped in the most picturesque property. Thank you Mahai for the most memorable experience... I can't wait to come back.

• A peaceful oasis away from the cruise crowds

  This was hands down the best decision we made during our Costa Maya cruise stop. Instead of going to a crowded beach club, we booked the Luxury Beach Escape at Mahai Retreat and it felt like discovering a hidden sanctuary. From the moment we were picked up at the port, everything was smooth and easy. Within about 20 minutes if getting into our taxi (which took us a bit to get to because you have to go all the way out of the exit gates of the port) we were at this beautiful oceanfront retreat surrounded by palm trees and the most peaceful atmosphere. When we arrived we were welcomed with a tropical breakfast and coffee and coconuts and then taken to our daybeds by the pool overlooking the ocean. The property itself is stunning — quiet, natural, and very different from the busy tourist areas near the port. We started the morning with a gentle yoga class in their upstairs yoga room that overlooks the sea, which was the perfect way to unwind after days on the ship. After that we spent the day relaxing, swimming in the pool, lounging in hammocks, and walking down the dock to the water. They also have paddleboards and kayaks but we stayed on land. Breakfast and lunch were both delicious and very fresh — healthy, flavorful food that made us feel energized instead of heavy. Throughout the day there was bottled water, juices, and coffee available, and the staff checked in to make sure we had everything we needed.  They even brought us snacks that were ridiculously good - the best guacamole I've ever had. What I loved most was the atmosphere. There were no crowds, no loud music, and no vendors trying to sell things. Just the sound of the ocean and birds and the feeling of having discovered a secret place. If your cruise stops in Costa Maya and you want something relaxing and authentic instead of the typical beach excursion, I can’t recommend Mahai enough. It was the most peaceful day of our entire trip.
