  The guide was very knowledgeable about wildlife and environment which I appreciated a lot. The hike was an easy track and the coffee experience was incredible! I was able to not only learn a lot about coffee production but peel and roast the beans myself before enjoying my cup of self produced coffee. One if the guy is a very passionate film maker and took amazing videos abd photos on my phone with pleasure without me asking hahahah! A very fun and unique experience. We enjoyed a home cooked meal with lots of diversity in case anyone is vegetarian or vegan. I would repeat this experience over and over again

  I had an amazing time visiting Materuni and Chemka Hot Springs. Materuni Waterfall was absolutely stunning, surrounded by lush greenery and fresh mountain air. The hike was refreshing and not too difficult. Chemka Hot Springs was the perfect way to relax afterward—the water was crystal clear, warm, and incredibly calming. Overall, a beautiful and memorable experience!

  My tour to Materuni Waterfall, the coffee experience, and Chemka Hot Spring was fantastic. The hike to Materuni Waterfall was beautiful, with green landscapes and great views along the way. The waterfall itself was impressive and refreshing—perfect for photos and relaxing after the walk. The coffee tour with the local Chagga community was one of the best parts. Our guide Benson was fun and welcoming, showing the traditional process of making coffee from the bean to the cup. Getting to grind and taste freshly made coffee was a great experience. Later, Chemka Hot Spring was the perfect place to relax. The clear blue water, warm temperature, and peaceful atmosphere made it an amazing spot to swim and unwind. It felt like a natural hidden paradise. Overall, the mix of nature, culture, and relaxation made this tour unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.

  The Materuni tour is a beautiful blend of nature and culture. You hike through lush rainforest to a stunning ~80 m waterfall — it’s peaceful, scenic, and very rewarding despite some muddy sections. Back in the village, you experience a traditional Chagga coffee ceremony: from harvesting to roasting and grinding, all while singing and dancing with locals. The coffee you produce is surprisingly good — many say it's among the best they’ve ever tasted. The guide’s local knowledge adds depth — they teach about native plants, Chagga history, and coffee farming. You also get a warm, home‑cooked Chagga lunch, and sometimes even a taste of banana beer.   The Materuni coffee tour and waterfall visit was an amazing experience. The locals showed us how they grow, roast, and brew delicious Chagga coffee, and we even got to try a fresh cup. After the tour, we hiked through beautiful green scenery to reach the stunning Materuni Waterfall. The view was breathtaking and the atmosphere peaceful. A perfect mix of culture, nature, and adventure—highly recommended!

  Materuni Waterfalls is a beautiful and peaceful place, surrounded by lush green scenery and fresh mountain air. The hike to the falls is enjoyable, and the views are totally worth it. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, explaining the local culture and helping us along the trail. After the hike, the local Chagga lunch was a highlight—fresh, delicious, and a great way to experience the community’s traditional flavors.   A Perfect Day Trip from Moshi If you're in the Moshi area and looking for a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation, I highly recommend a combined trip to Materuni Waterfalls and Kikuletwa Hot Springs. 🌄 Materuni Waterfalls Materuni is a beautiful and peaceful village located just outside of Moshi. The hike to the waterfall was not too difficult, but it was scenic and full of local charm. Along the way, our guide shared insights about the Chagga culture and local plants. The waterfall itself is stunning – tall, powerful, and surrounded by lush green forest. You can take a refreshing dip if you're up for it (though the water is cold!), or just enjoy the view and take photos. A highlight was the coffee tour we did with local villagers. We learned how coffee is grown, processed, and roasted – and even got to grind and brew our own cup the traditional way. The singing and dancing during the coffee-making process made it feel really authentic and fun. 💦 Kikuletwa (Chemka) Hot Springs After the hike, heading to the hot springs was the perfect way to unwind. Located in a more remote area, the hot springs are like an oasis in the middle of dry land – crystal clear, warm, and surrounded by fig trees. The water is clean and beautifully blue-green. You can swim, relax, and even swing into the water from a rope swing. It’s a great spot for photos and just soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. There are also small local vendors selling snacks, drinks, and souvenirs. It’s not overly commercialized, which I appreciated.

  One of the best parts was joining a traditional coffee-making experience, where we learned the entire process, from roasting to tasting. The local guides were very welcoming and knowledgeable, making the whole experience authentic and memorable. Materuni is the perfect place if you want to enjoy scenic hikes, cultural experiences, and fresh local coffee. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Moshi or Kilimanjaro.
